“When would you need me to start,” Ally hoped the answer would at least give her some time to regroup.
“As soon as possible,” Coriene replied. “ I know November sounds like a long time from now, but for what the board is asking for, the team is already behind.”
Ally nodded. “Ms. Shumaker I literally just walked off a plane after being gone for a few months. I do need to get things in order here especially if you are asking me to relocate to Chicago for that whole time.” Chicago wasn’t far, but with the amount of work that needed done, there would be no going back and forth on the weekends. “I at least need time to do laundry, communicate with my tennant and find a long term bird sitter.” She looked at Gary “ YOu know how hard it will be to find adequate long term care for Benny.” He nodded. She knew he was aware of the struggles she had finding boarding for her sss parrot. Her tenant would feed the bird, but weren’t comfortable letting him out keeping up with the cage cleaning.
“Of course we could give you a couple days to prepare,” Coriene conceded. “As for Benny, why don’t you bring him with you?”
“I would love to bring him with me, but flying him would be expensive. I would have to buy him all the things he needs once we got there since shipping his stuff at home would be cost prohibitive, and the other patrons at the hotel may not appreciate his rants,” Ally responded hoping she didn’t sound rude.
“Oh you will be staying in the family guest house on our property” Coriene admitted. “The contract would be through November. We assumed a house would be a better fit for you than a hotel. And of course you could fly back to your home here as needed, but with the volume of work you have to work weekends unfortunately. I can book the needed airline seats and provide you with the proper carrier. If you text me the items you will need at the house, I can make sure those are there before you arrive.”
