I heard a new mermaid was coming here but I hadn’t put much thought into it. I was 18 and leaving soon. Isiah and I had different opinions on how to get me out of here to search for Lillian. He said I should excel in school and go back home to take over the pack. I was more inclined to do nothing and send my grades plunging so they’d kick me out and I’d be free to go searching.

I stood there smoking a cigarette on the outskirts of the academy when I spotted a girl wandering towards the forest on the outskirts of the school. I should probably warn her that there’s lots of poisonous animals in there.

I kicked off the wall about to yell for her to stop when I caught it- the slight scent of roses. Black dress, black hair, nearly transparent skin…it couldn’t be?

I set about taking my clothes off and turning into my wolf. I was all black so I could blend in better and besides my instincts were better in this form. I stayed a casual distance away but she kept looking around- likely sensing something was amiss. We never caught each other eyes and my wolf was pushing me hard to get closer to her. When she stalled at the edge of the lake I realized why she was here. The pool on the roof wasn’t for mermaids like her. She needed fresh water. I changed back into my human form. I watched as she removed her dress to reveal some rather sultry lingerie. I tried not to look but it was almost impossible to look away from her body. I could feel myself grow hard watching her submerge herself into the lake.

I remained eerily still as she splashed around for a while. She caught fish and devoured them like a starving woman. Wouldn’t surprise me if she was at this point. She probably only weighed 110 and she was roughly 5’7. After some debating she finally pulled herself from the lake and waited for her tail to dry out. It wasn’t til she was bent over pulling her panties up that I shifted position which of course broke a twig.

Immediately she went ramrod straight and covered her breasts. I was about to come out with my hands held high to reassure her but then I realized she wasn’t scared- no she was protecting herself. All her teeth were out and she was chanting something.

Between her chants I didn’t notice the sound of a snake coming up to bite me right next to my d***. I fell to the ground with a grunt as more snakes started to cover my body. I looked over to realize she had stopped chanting and 2 of the snakes had slithered up her wrists turning immediately to silver. Her teeth retracted feeling as if the danger was gone.

Lillian pulled on her bra and wandered over to where I was covered in snakes. With a swish of her hand she sent them all back to their homes. It didn’t matter I wouldn’t be able to move for at least another 5 minutes. Unfortunately one part of me didn’t get the memo to go slack and was standing sky high for her to see.

‘Why do you smell familiar?’ Even her voice had changed. Lower and sexier.

‘Probably because you know me.’ I was trying to remain aloof and calm but she sure knew how to make me tongue tied

‘Wait…Eiron? Oh my god Eiron I’m so sorry I didn’t know’ she fell to the ground next to me to inspect the snake bite. Which just so happened to be on my thigh very close to my d***. ‘I think I can get the venom out. It’s not much I just wanted them to subdue you.’ Before I could refuse she was there sucking the venom out of my thigh. Her face maybe 2 inches from my d***. This is so not know I imagined our first time seeing each other again going. I always imagined her sucking something a little higher up. The sucking motion on my thigh was unfortunately only getting me more excited too so I watch helplessly as my d*** grew right in front of her face. ‘Alright I think I got-‘ she stopped mid sentence when she realized the predicament we were in. She revved back and very ungraciously slammed her head into a tree.

Smelling blood my protective instincts took over and pulled the last of the venom from my blood stream. I scrambled on my knees to look at her head but at that moment our eyes met. Suddenly it was like I was weightless- like all I could see was her, all I needed was her. I would change this world for her. I suspected before but I knew it now. She was my mate. Before I could think better of it I slammed my lips down on hers. She was hesitant at first but then she was kissing me back. Aggressively too. She was on top of me before I knew it. I grabbed her a** to steady her and I felt her moan into my mouth. I opened my eyes to see her staring deep into mine. I could feel her siren powers around me. As I started to give into the haze she started to blink out of it. She stood up abruptly staring down at me.

‘I can’t- we can’t- it’s too dangerous.’ She trudged over to where her dress and shoes were and started to try to zip it back up. I sighed and stood up walking past her to a nook under the trunks of the trees and retrieved an extra set of clothes. She gave me a perplexed look and I shrugged.

‘Shifters leave their clothes wherever. I’m guessing some kids tried to come out here and shift but realized there’s a ton of poisonous critters around’ I looked pointedly at her wrists and she just shrugged.

‘They can be used for protection. I guess I’ll just take this shirt and you can um have the pants.’ She turned her back to shrug on the button down suddenly very shy. If only she realized I had literally already seen EVERYTHING. I pulled up my pants which with a stiffy is much harder than people realize. ‘Are you um ready now?’ She asked peering behind her hair.

‘Ready for what? Going back to that place that plans to murder my mate? Not particularly.’ I hadn’t missed the shocked look that passed her face at the whole ‘mate’ part. Mermaids wouldn’t feel a shifters attachment but she would feel our connection.

‘Mates are you out of your mind? I won’t be…at this school for very long. You still have a whole future ahead of me’ she seemed to be trying to explain more to herself than me.

‘You know we don’t choose our mates right? Albeit I wouldn’t have it any other way. Do you know how long we’ve been waiting for you?’ I asked putting my hands on her shoulders.
