Olivia pounds her hand on the table, Causing Mr. Johnson to jump. "How can you even think of this, Mr. Johnson? My parents are right there fight for their lives, and you are right here pushing me to sign away my freedom. Don't you have any humanity in you ?"
Mr. Johnson's expression turned red in defense. "I'm only doing my job, Ms West. The Woodsons are my clients, and I have to represent their interests at heart ."
Olivia's eyes burned with anger. "Your job huh? You feel your job is so important right?. You are my family's loyal for Christ sake your job is to protect me, and not sell me out to the highest bidder. You're supposed to be my family's lawyer Mr Johnson, not the Woodsons' stooge."
Mr. Johnson's face turned purple as a result of being extremely angry, but Olivia didn't back down. She was tired of being pushed around by just anyone, tired of being treated like a pawn in a game of corporate chess.
Olivia pushed her chair back and stood up, her eyes burning in serious anger. "I have had enough of this conversation, Mr. Johnson. I would not seat down here and listen to your bunch of your excuses or your lies." She blurted
And With that she turned and stormed out of the cafeteria, leaving Mr. Johnson and Samantha behind. She could feel the eyes of the other hospital visitors watching her , but she cared less . She was too angry, too hurt, and too scared.
As she walked down the hospital corridor, she felt a sense of desperation wash over her. What was she going to do? How was she going to protect her parents and herself from the Woodsons' ruthless ambition? She didn't know what their intentions was and that scared her
She turned to a corner and found herself in front of the ICU. She took a deep breath and was about pushing the door open , bracing herself for what she might find inside when a gentle hand stopped her.
"I'm sorry, Ms West. I can't let you in right now," the nurse said softly.
Olivia's heart raced as she tried to push past the nurse. "What's going on? What's happening with my parents?"
The nurse's expression was sober , but firm. "The doctor will be here soon to talk to you, Olivia. Please, just wait a few minutes."
Olivia heart skiped she fears that with the rate of her heart skipping she might soon be diagnosed of a heart attack. What was happening? Were her parents...?
She felt a wave of panic wash through her, and her knees wobble. The nurse caught her and led her to a chair in the reception area.
"Just a few minutes, Ms West. Please wait," the nurse repeated.
Olivia nodded, she felt numb and helpless as waited, her heart heavy with fear and time seems to not side with her as it was what felt like an eternity.
Samantha rushed into the reception area, looking really worried.
"Olivia, I was looking all over the place for you. What is going on? Why aren't you in the ICU with your parents yet?"
Olivia shook her head, feeling tears prick at her eyes. "The nurse won't let me in. She says the doctor needs to talk to me first I don't know what to do ."
Samantha's expression filled with concerned. "Oh no, Liv. That doesn't sound good. Do you think...?"
Olivia nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think something's wrong, Sam. Something bad." She couldn't bare it as she burst into tears
"Hey it's too early to conclude okay let's wait until the doctor comes"Samantha said as she bends to sit closer to her.
Samantha sat down beside Olivia and took her hand. "We'll get through this together, Liv. Whatever it is, we'll face it together."
Just then, a doctor walks into the reception area, looking somber. "Olivia Woodson? I'm Dr. Smith. I need to talk to you about your parents..."
Dr. Smith's expression was sympathetic, but his words were brutal it seems since there was no better way to break the news.
"Olivia, I'm so sorry. Your parents' injuries were too severe there was no way to help it . They didn't make it..."
Olivia felt like she is being punched in the gut. She could not breathe, could not think. She heard Samantha gasp in exclamation, she felt her friend's arms wrap around her waist, but she was numb.
"No," Olivia whispered, shaking her head. "No, no, no. This can't be happening…."
Dr. Smith's voice was gentle,. "I'm so sorry for your losses, Olivia. We did everything we could think of , but it wasn't enough. They're gone, and I know this is a devastating loss for you."
Olivia felt like she was in a nightmare, like she was trapped in a living hell. She couldn't accept this. Her parents, her wonderful, her loving parents, no it was just impossible.
Olivia's world was broken into a million pieces. She saw herself drowning in a sea of grief as breakes down in tears , her body shaking with sobs.
Samantha held her tight, trying to comfort her, but Olivia was beyond consolation. She wept for her parents, for the life they would never have, for the future they would never see.
Dr. Smith nodded sympathetically and handed her a box of tissue. "I'm so sorry, Olivia. Take all the time you need. We'll be here for you."
Olivia cried until she was tired, until she had no tears left to cry. She felt empty inside , with a kind of hollow feeling, like a part of her had been ripped away.
Samantha rocked her back and forth, whispering words of comfort, but Olivia was lost in her grief. She knew she would never be the same again, that her life would never be the same again.
The TV in the reception area suddenly come to life, and Olivia's eyes widened in horror as she saw her parents' faces plastered on the screen. The news anchor's voice was somber, but the words pierced Olivia's heart like a very sharp knife.
"Breaking news: Billionaire couple, James and Elizabeth West, tragically killed in a car accident earlier today. The business world is in shock as tributes pour in for the beloved philanthropists and entrepreneurs..."
Olivia felt like she'd been punched in the gut again. She could not believe it her eyes . Her parents' death was already public news. She felt a wave of nauseousness wash over her as she saw her parents' pictures, their names, and their legacy being discussed by strangers.
Samantha quickly turned off the TV, but the damage was done itbwas already too late . Olivia felt violated, like her grief was being exploited for the sake of ratings.
Olivia's eyes burns in anger as she slammed her fist on the chair. "How dare they?! How dare they intrude on our privacy like this?!"
Samantha tried to calm her down but Olivia was too angry. She stormed out of the waiting area in anger, determined to confront the reporters who were no doubt gathered outside.
As she burst through the hospital doors, she saw a sea of cameras and microphones waiting for her. The reporters shouted out insensitive questions like they had no conscience, but Olivia wasn't having it.
"Leave me alone!" she shouted, at the top of her voice hoarse from crying. "Can't you see I'm grieving?!"
One particularly pushy reporter stepped forward, and Olivia lost it. She let out a fiery rebuke that left the reporter looking shell-shocked.
"Don't you even dare to ask me how I feel! You people have no right to intrude on my grief like this. My parents deserved way better than to be reduced to a headline!"
The reporters were completely taken aback by Olivia's fury, but she didn't care. She was a woman on a mission to protect her family's legacy.
Just as the reporter was getting too close, a strong hand grasped his shoulder and pulled him back.
Alexander Woodson's piercing blue eyes narrowed as he stepped in front of Olivia, his broad shoulders squaring off against the reporter.
"That's enough," Alexander growled, his deep voice commanding attention. "You're harassing Ms. West in her time of grief. I suggest you back off ,Else you face the consequences…." His loud voice echoed
