“What makes a decision not trivial?”
“One that causes significant change in the universe. Or causes other people to make decisions they otherwise wouldn’t have made. Say you decide one day to panhandle outside of Tim Horton’s instead of Starbucks—”
“Seriously?”
“Someone gives you money outside Tim’s because you remind them of the daughter they haven’t talked to since she left home. They start thinking of her, and then start missing her, which makes them call her, leading to a touching reunion.” He shrugged. “But if you choose Starbucks, that person never sees you, never calls their daughter. Their family remains shattered.”
