MA ALICE POV "Nanny, I'm scared," he said, hugging me tight. "Shh, it's okay, son. Everything will be okay. Be patient. So, what will you do?" "I'm really confused. It's because of this property that my parents died. I can't hand it over to him. This was my father's last wish ,he told me no matter what, I should never be weak. Now she's in danger, all because of me. She'll die if I don't release the documents. She'll— I'm truly confused, Nanny. What do I do? I took Alex as my best friend,my brother. I never knew he never really loved me. Even though I know I'm not supposed to trust anyone, Nanny, I trusted him completely. I sheltered him for years. Whatever he asked for, I made sure he had it. And now my reward is him taking away everything that mattered to me. He wants to destroy my life completely. Why, Nanny? Why always me? I sensed something was wrong, but I ignored it. Nanny, why? Am I destined to feel pain from the moment I was born? I remember — because of me, my twin was killed. Why? I think I deserve to die. Yes, I think that's my punishment," he said bitterly. "Would you be quiet and stop blaming yourself? Let's think of a solution. I've never known you to be weak, not since you were a child. So why are you lamenting? You've always overcome every problem, and this won't be any different. Sit yourself down and think of the best way through this. I know my son isn't weak. You can do this," I said firmly. "I'm sorry, Nanny. It's just that—" "Son, you can do this. You've never been a weak Mafia Lord, and you never will be not now, not ever. I'll leave you to think, but remember, we only have 48 hours to save her." DORIS POV I stood up from my bed and chewed on my stick. Let me go check on that fool I tied down he should be deadby now. I can't wait to turn him into nothing. I performed the incantation and felt a surge of anger when I saw he was still fine. Who dared to free my prey?My nose started bleeding, and my anger grew.Well, whoever helped him had better be ready to be the one to take his place.Or... could it be that he's found his angel? No. It can't be. They hate each other too much. I need to find out who did this. MARIA'S POV I looked around and felt everything turning white — I knew Marissa was coming. "Good day, Marissa," I said, bowing. "Good day, daughter. I can see you're doing well, making your mother and me proud." "Thank you, Mariassa," I said, bowing. "Expect Doris soon. Tell her that the next time her path crosses yours, you will destroy her crown." "Okay, Marissa." "Remember to make your mother and me proud." "Thank you, wise one." I laughed, knowing that old witch would be furious by now. Well, let's see how many more months our old witch has left before she's finished, I said loudly, knowing she was already in my room. "You bastard, you dared to free my prey. How dare you!" Doris said angrily. "Oh," I replied. "How dare you try that? Do you know who I am?" "Oh." "Are you insane? Or do you want me to spill your blood right now?" "Oh." "When I ask you questions, answer me," she said, and tried to strike me with her power — but I held it back. "Don't you dare try that again." "What?!" "The next time you try this, that will be the day you learn just how small you really are compared to me," I warned. "You dare talk back to me?" she asked, shocked. "Yes. And the next time our paths cross, I will destroy your crown," I said, watching her grow even more stunned. "The battle line has been drawn. Let's see who wins," she said, and vanished. DORIS' POV I paced around my private chamber, furious. My heart raced, and blood dripped from my nose — that's what happens when I'm truly angry. How dare she speak to me like that? She dared to free my prey, and now she claims I can never win this battle. I have never lost a battle, and this will be no exception. I am Doris, and I get everything I want, no matter the cost. Either I get my prey back, or I destroy her myself. This girl has bitten off more than she can chew. I need to visit Lord Lydia— she needs to understand I am not weak. She tried to use my anger against me, hoping I'd fear her. Well, the battle line has been drawn. Let's see who wins. DAVID'S POV I need to be more strict to make Amos find the location. My daughter must always be the best in the music industry, no other girl can take that spot. I need to eliminate the president's missing daughter before she's found. 📲 "Boss, good morning." 📲 "Have you found the location?" 📲 "Not yet." 📲 "I'm giving you 48 hours. Resign from your job tell them you're traveling to another country. If not, you don't want to know what I'll do." 📲 "But, boss—" 📲 "Bring her to my hideout. I don't care how." I hung up angrily. I need to eliminate that girl and Amos, too. My mission is nearly complete; I don't need him anymore, I thought, smiling to myself. AMOS' POV Why would boss ask me to resign? I need to think this through — the way he sounded made it seem like he already has his own plans in motion. I think I need to come up with a plan of my own, because I know he's clever and calculating. What if he plans to eliminate the girl — and me along with her? I need to be careful and think this through. MITCHELL'S POV I felt miserable, sitting in an unfamiliar place. The room was locked. I hadn't been given any food since I was kidn*pped. They had been treating me like a slave, and Mom had told me I would die tonight so there was no point wasting food on me. Oh Lord, please save my soul. I need to know who I am. I don't want to die without knowing the real reason I'm supposedly evil. I need to know my parents. I have so many questions for them. I needed to bathe; I felt disgusting. I went into the bathroom, undressed, and washed quickly, along with my dirty clothes. I found a towel, wrapped it around myself, and went back into the room. Thankfully, my belongings were still intact. I opened my bag and pulled out a new outfit Ma Betty had given me. I put on the crop top and trousers. At least, even if I were to die, I'd make use of my new clothes.I redid my hair and felt a little better. The door opened, and Alex walked in. I kept my eyes on the floor. "How are you?" he asked. "I'm fine," I replied, just as my stomach growled loudly, and he chuckled. "How about you eat now?" "Thanks, I'm not—" My stomach growled again, and he laughed. Must my stomach humiliate me now, of all times? I thought. "But your stomach says otherwise. Sit down and eat. I made this myself." "Thanks." "You're welcome." He left immediately, and I ate hungrily. It was delicious. One thing I know about Alex is that he's always been an excellent cook. I missed his food. Maybe this would be the last time I'd ever taste it. I finished everything and drank the water too. The door opened again, and he stepped back in. "That fast?" "Thanks." "Do you need more?" "No, thank you," I said, standing to head toward the bathroom. Seeing him there made everything hurt more. I had thought of him as more than a brother, my only real friend. I confided in him more than anyone, and I never knew it had all been a lie. I was almost at the bathroom door when he caught my hand. "Are you avoiding me?" "No." "Mitchell, you know I understand you better than you understand yourself. I know I've hurt you — physically and emotionally but I'm sorry. I promise to make it right. I know you probably see me as a traitor, someone heartless, for putting the one person I love through so much pain. But when the time comes, I'll explain everything. I promise you'll leave here tonight, unharmed. I'm sorry, Mitchell. Please don't shut me out ; it would break my heart. You're the only one I truly care about, and you avoiding me hurts more than you know. I know I've acted like someone you can't trust, but you're still the one my heart holds onto. I promise to get you out of here tonight, and this pain will finally be over." With that, he left the room, and I sighed heavily. Oh Lord, who should I trust? What if this is just another part of their plan to kill me? What if he's actually telling the truth? I'm so confused. I'm almost certain this is part of their plan to end my life . I heard Dad tell Mom he intends to kill me brutally. Oh Lord, save my soul, I said, crying. So today might be the last time I ever cry. FESTUS POV I looked around cautiously, making sure no one noticed me. I needed to be careful ; my parents died because of this document, and I owe it to them to see this through. I checked the kitchen; everyone was busy. I climbed the stairs quietly, careful not to draw attention. I knew he'd never willingly hand over those documents. I had to pass through thirty rooms before reaching his private study. My heart was racing, and I was sweating the whole way. What if I got caught? Oh Lord, I need to be careful. I moved slowly, exhausted, but I had to keep going ,this document was the only thing that could make years of planning finally pay off. I reached the last room and sighed with relief. I unlocked the door.Yes, I had stolen the key and stepped inside, heading straight for the inner chamber. I used the second key to unlock that door too. I stepped in, feeling a rush of excitement, and began searching. Just as doubt started creeping in, I finally found both documents together. Thank God. I felt a wave of relief and quickly left the room, hiding the papers and moving fast. Once I felt safe, I pulled out my phone, my heart still pounding. 📲 "Hello, Fesus, any news?" 📲 "Alex send your boys now — I have the documents," I said, and hung up immediately. AMOS' POV 📲 "Good day, boss." 📲 "Any news?" 📲 "Yes, boss, I've found her location." 📲 "When should I expect her?" 📲 "Tomorrow morning." 📲 "When will you strike?" 📲 "Tonight." 📲 "Good. Remember to resign, tell them you're traveling abroad, or come up with whatever excuse works. I don't care what you say. All I care about is having you and her at my hideout by tomorrow." He hung up. I think I need to do something. I'm beginning to suspect this boss. He's a ruthless, well-known criminal, and one thing about him is that he never leaves a trace of his work. Well, I'll go through with the k********g tonight. DAVID I can't wait to finally get rid of that girl — and Amos, too. He thinks I adopted him out of kindness. Well, he's served his purpose. I'll eliminate him tomorrow, before he ever discovers his real family. I won't risk my reputation for his sake. He'd hate me if he ever learned I've been using him this whole time; so the safest option is to erase him completely. His usefulness has run its course. ALEX I'm taking Mitchell to our new house tonight. I can't wait to finally have her safe with me, away from all of this. I just need to be patient. It's only a matter of hours now. I've already arranged everything with my men, and they'll take her tonight. Tonight is also the night that fool dies. Ha ha ha ha — I can't wait to see the once-feared Mafia Lord fall.
