STIRRING DEEP INTO THE VOID

A SOUND FROM THE DEEP

Suddenly, there was a cry of a baby...

It happens around 11:50 pm, when a renowned hunter in Oloku village heard a sound of a baby, while he was setting his trap in the forest he usual hunts at night, with his headtorch. This was not the first he has had such a cry and his experience, discovering the first cry, was terrifying. However, he still could not help, but go find out, as something is compelling him to and he could resist the compelling force.

Everywhere was in total darkness, beside the light from the hunter's head torch, as the cry persistently keeps entering the hunter's ear and piercing into his heart. In his heart, it was a call for help, as he pauses in wonder amaze, trying to figure out the direction where the cry was coming from.

The hunter suddenly starts tracing the sound, as the sound has a kind of magnetic pull on him, despite, he could not explain why. In the course of tracing the sound, he finally arrives at a particular building in the heart of the forest. He starts tip-toeing with much keenness, as he has once experienced something like this before, discovering what was mimicking a crying baby was a very weird terrifying alien creature. However, this time, he feels compelled to find out, even without any fear in his heart, as he thinks in his heart that someone must have given birth. The hunter's guess was right...

Suddenly, the hunter spots a mysterious object, which one can conclude that it is a full moon, but shines with the brilliant radiance of the sun. The appearance of this luminous object was like something never seen before. This happened in August 2021, it is like the dark sky has set the pace for bright Perseid meteors. The arrival of the moon was on Sunday, but no one observes it, except the hunter who was out in the wild. One thing this hunter has become because of the time he goes out to hunt, is, skywatcher, as he has often seen strange and weird things, like luminous flying saucers in the sky.

It was as if the moon was between the sun and the earth, but suddenly, got swallowed by the sun, as it longer looks like a moon in brilliancy. The hunter was left awestruck, as he could not explain this strange phenomenon. Therefore, in his heart, he considers it as sunrise at midnight.

It is now a few minutes to midnight when he arrives at the particular building where the cry of the baby was coming from. He suddenly realizes a bush lantern in the inn and heard the moaning of a woman travelling in labour pains. It seems as if there was no one in the inn, as he spotted a woman who just delivers a baby boy, with the placental still hanging. She was seriously groaning in pain, muttering words silently, "Someone help, I need help!"

The arrival of the hunter was timely, as she was seriously losing excess blood.

Suddenly, the hunter raised an alarm, as people started trooping out from their houses. Soon, someone arrives and quickly, call the attention of an old woman who is a known village midwife. The old village midwife came and was able to motivate the woman who gave birth to push out the placental. She delivers the placenta and his son was cleaned up with kernel oil, provided by the old village midwife. The new baby was very cute but has a very weird eye that glows. Even the old village midwife was afraid when she noticed the baby's eyes, she ran out of the room, telling the other women who were outside, that the baby looks strange. She said, "All my life of delivering babies, I have never seen a baby like this, I think there is something special about this baby. Moreover, how did this woman gets into late Inene's toom that had not been occupied since she died, many years ago? I am really surprised!"

When the people notice the moon, they became much more astonished with the birth of the strange child coinciding with a usual occurrence, which leaves people awestruck.

When the woman after cleaning up the baby boy, hands him over to his mother to breast him, she looks at him and says, "You shall be called Enivid. Moreover, because you came at this time when your Dad is away in the field of service and I got trapped in the wild, you shall be a light in this dark world. Beyond the brilliance of the moon, you will shine, even as night, your sun will be up to shine for all to see. The darkness cannot stop your light from shining, because you are the sunrise at midnight. Anyone who sees you, will not avoid you. You are the sight no man will avoid in this world of void. Shine your son, you are welcome."

As she says these words, the baby boy starts smiling and astonishingly shocking everyone present as he speaks to his mum saying, "Blessed are you amongst all women".

The woman who delivered the baby boy smiles, as the room starts glowing. The hunter and every other woman who were present, ran out because they could not behold the brilliance emanating from the child's eyes.

The hunter summons courage and rushes back into the room where the new baby and his mother are. He asks the mother of the new baby, " What is the name of your child?" and she replies by saying, "His name is Enivid".

He further asks, " Why did you name Enivid?" and she replies, "Because, his heart will become the volume that hides complete light of the current eyes of the spirit. I mean, he will see things that mere men can't see."

The hunter takes the child and says to his mother, "You have given birth to a god. I have never seen something like this before in my entire life, despite, I have seen a lot, even the imaginable things in the wild forest while hunting middle of the night. If I mag asks, " Why are you in this village because you do not look like someone who is from here?" and the woman answered and say, "I can't explain how I found myself here. The last thing I could remember is the fact that I am on transit, going to a maternity clinic in the suburb of Benin City because I was beginning to experience a birth pang and there was no one to help me since I was alone with my young daughter whom I left her with my neighbour. I decide to rush to the clinic since I did not understand how I was feeling. My husband is away on service in an airforce. All I could realize was that the vehicle we boarded was cascading down the cliff and all the passengers were screaming, but I didn't care because I was in labour pain. How I got here, that is what I cannot tell you, because I don't know. Can you explain what you don't know?

The hunter in response says, " No! I can only explain what I know. However, there is something very supernatural about your child and I am glad, that I founded you, not the wild beast of this evil forest that often comes to rest in this abandoned apartment."
