Nora sat silently in the infirmary, staring at her trembling hands.
The events in the greenhouse replayed over and over in her mind like a haunting melody she couldn’t silence. Serena’s words. The vial. Nolan’s voice breaking through the chaos. The fire in Julian and Zane’s eyes when they stormed in.
She wasn’t just some scholarship girl anymore.
She was a target.
The door creaked open, and Julian entered, his blazer wrinkled, hair a mess, eyes wild with concern. “Are you okay?”
Nora looked up. “You came.”
“I always would,” he replied without hesitation. “No matter what.”
Zane appeared behind him, arms folded, jaw tight. “She needs protection, not empty promises.”
Julian turned sharply. “You think I’d ever let anything happen to her?”
“You already did,” Zane snapped. “When you let Serena control the narrative. When you didn’t speak up.”
“I was trying to protect her!”
“Then maybe you should’ve done a better job.”
“Guys,” Nora said quietly, her voice trembling. “Stop.”
Both boys paused, realizing the depth of her exhaustion. The bruises on her wrist. The distant look in her eyes. This wasn’t a girl caught between two affections—this was a girl being pulled in every direction by forces bigger than she could control.
“She said something last night…” Nora swallowed. “Serena. She said she knew I was the real Belmont daughter two years ago.”
Zane’s brow furrowed. “Then why didn’t she say anything?”
Julian’s face darkened. “Because she never intended to. She was going to erase you. Completely.”
A knock sounded. Nolan stepped in, holding something in his hand.
The locket.
“I think it’s time you know the truth,” he said softly. “And not just from Serena’s twisted mouth.”
He opened the locket.
Inside was a photo—of two babies, identical. A small note folded beneath it.
“To our twin stars. We will never stop searching. Love, Mom & Dad.”
Nora’s breath caught.
Twins. A family. Her family.
The truth wasn’t just a whisper anymore. It was real. Tangible.
And suddenly, everything had changed.
