ABOUT JOHN WHITTIER TREAT John Whittier Treat, born and raised in New England, is a writer in Seattle. He is the author of the novel The Rise and Fall of the Yellow House, a finalist for the 2016 Lambda Literary Foundation for Best Gay Fiction. His short story “The Pond” won the 2018 Christopher Hewitt Award for Fiction, and his 2019 “Good Humor” has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. He is currently at work on a second novel, First Consonants.
