8 She gently tugged on the reins for Sunny to stop, then dismounted. They had strung the fence over the pond in an effort to keep the line between the properties consistent. Cattle weren’t turned out on this portion of either property due to its rocky terrain and amount of pine trees. Whatever vegetation grew on these acres was reserved for the native creatures that cohabited the land with the humans. Because the two properties shared rights to the stream, and only about one-fourth of the pond was on her side of the fence, a gate had been made using fence wire and wooden poles.
