11 Wednesday was delivery day. The prison had a workshop where some inmates were able to earn a small wage for assembling drawers and pre-cut cabinets. The company that contracted with the prison delivered the parts, including the hardware, and paid for the labor for the construction of the cabinets. The two docking bays were open to receive the delivery trucks. There were always three armed guards around the trucks, the dock, and the prisoners, watching for the slightest odd movement. Carl thought that was humorous because what else would one expect to find in a federal high security prison than people who thrived on being abnormal?
