Denny had stayed the night at the office to keep watch on those who occupied the cells. Vince was to relieve him at eight that morning.
It had taken hours to file the paperwork on the four poachers. Fortunately, they were cooperative and didn’t ask for legal representation, probably guessing that a lawyer wouldn’t be able to do much besides suggest that they not answer questions, which would only delay the inevitable, since they were caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Shaun guessed it was due to their lack of funds that instigated their criminal activity in the first place. All of their permits and receipts for their hunting rifles checked out, and they remained staunch in their plea that they did not shoot, by accident or otherwise, Bear Tanner.
