27 The following morning dawned as a rare overcast day in September. The weather report in the paper would blame it on the late monsoon season in Phoenix, Arizona. Whatever the reason, it kept Sam’s bedroom darker than usual this time of the morning, but not so much that Cole could turn off the lamp on the nightstand. It didn’t bother him to have it on, but he did wonder if Sam would ever be able to sleep with it off, especially if he was next to her. He had propped himself up with a pillow against the headboard.
