Zander's p.o.v

"The war, she says." "Love, what do you mean the war is coming?" "The Moon Goddess came to me again and told me the war is coming and that danger is on the horizon. We need to start training me in combat, she says." "What do you mean, I ask?" "I will start training with either you or the warriors, she says." "I will train you little wolf, I say." I pull her into my lap and place her head on my chest to help her nervousness. Before long she had fallen back to sleep. I thought about what she had said and wondered if I should beef up on the warriors and patrol rounds. I look over at my clock and see that it's still early. Maybe I can get a few more hours of sleep before I need to speak with our fathers and Derrick. I lay my head back and revel in the feeling of her skin, the smell of her hair, and the static from the mate bond. "Moon Goddess, if you can hear me or are even listening I need to know how to best protect my mate?" I begin to relax while listening to my mate's breathing. I look down at my sleeping mate and notice the little freckles that pepper her nose and cheeks. How had I missed those? As my eyes scan over her face she begins to move a little as if she felt my eyes absorbing everything I can about her. I look at every mole or hair and commit it to memory. I want to be a better man for her. I slowly fall into a quiet slumber. I'm at the edge of a cliff looking out over the water and I feel someone come up next to me so I look over and see a stunning woman in a long glittery gown. She has long black hair and crystal clear eyes. "Hello, Zander she says." "You must be the Moon Goddess Selene, I say more to myself." "That I am my child, she says looking at me." "You heard me I guess." She turns back to the water and says, "we need to come up with a plan to protect Joelle and keep her safe. She is still very young and new to her powers. She needs to learn how to protect herself as well." "I plan on training her so I know that she can hold her own. I'm just trying to figure out if we should train her magic as well." "I think that would be a wise decision. Her mother can help her with that and you can train her in human and wolf form. You need to at least mark her the night of the Luna ceremony and induct her into the pack so you can find her just in case, she says." "Am I going to lose her, I ask?" "That's all on her at this point sweetie, she says." "I need to inform our fathers and my Beta, I say." "Go, you're trying to wake up now. Go and protect her, she says." I open my eyes to see my mate is missing and I start to panic. Why hadn't I already marked her? "Because we are taking things slow with our mate, Ben says." "Well I need to find her, I say." "Derrick, have you seen Joelle, I ask?" "Yeah, we're in the kitchen. She's making friends with Lucy and Lacey, he says." " I'll be done in ten and we need to discuss something our fathers included." "Is everything okay Alpha, he asks?" " No, but we are going to make it okay, I say." "Should the Luna know about this, he asks?" "Yes she needs to be a part of this, I say." I shut the mind link and get dressed so I can fill everyone in on the events that have taken place. I head out of the room and bump into someone. "Oh I'm sorry, I say." " That's okay Alpha." "Elizabeth, why are you on this floor, I ask." "Oh, Alpha she says throwing her arms around my neck." I immediately grab her arm and throw them off me, "I'm only going to tell you this one time and one time only. Keep your hands off of me. I am your Alpha and I have a mate. Do you understand me, I growl?" "Yes Alpha I understand, she says." "If you do it again or mess with your Luna I will banish you and force you to become a rogue, I threaten." She flings her head and her eyes are full of fire, you wouldn't dare throw me out for her. My father is your doctor and they go where I go, she says." "If they want to go with you that's fine by me but they are welcome to stay. Now that's the end of that and you need to get out of my sight, I say." "But Zander... I had her by her throat up against the wall before she could finish what she was going to say. "I am your ALPHA, I growl. And you will respect that do I make myself clear I yell." She's gasping for air so I loosen my grip on her so she can speak. "Yes Alpha, she gasps out." " Good now LEAVE this floor, I order." I watch the back of her as she hurries out of my sight and runs down the stairs. "We are going to regret not killing her, Ben says." "I need to talk to Ethan about his daughter or something bad is going to happen, I say" "Yeah like maybe our mate rips her throat out, said Ben." "Now Ben we want to be better for our mate, I say." "Damnit why do we have to be nice to her, he says." "Because our mate is tender-hearted and wouldn't want to hurt the she-wolf, I say." I shut the mind link because I was tired of his attitude and head downstairs to find my mate. I hear laughing before I even get to the kitchen. Gah her laugh is so beautiful. "What's going on in here, I ask?" They keep laughing but even harder. "Well Zander it seems your mate snorts when she laughs really hard, my father says." "oh she does, does she I ask?" I can't help but smile at my sweet mate from across the room. Her eyes seem to twinkle when she smiles back at me. "Derrick have you told everyone about the meeting we need to have, I ask" "Yes Alpha, he says." That made everyone tense up. "Let's all go up to my office so we can speak freely, I say." Once inside my office, I lead Joelle to my chair and sit down placing her on my lap. I know that once we start discussing this matter I'm going to need my mate to help keep me calm. "What is it, my mother asks?" I look into my mate's beautiful eyes and simply say, There's a war coming and they want to take my mate from me."
