Zander's pov

" I have a twin brother, Joelle asks?" "Yes," I simply said, not wanting to overwhelm her. "And you know who they are," she asked? "Yes, we do, they are Alpha Victor and Luna Summer Lite of the Lite pack." "Where were you found? In a hollowed-out tree by Beta Charles." "Which, may I ask you something Zander, my beautiful mate asked?" "Of course, love. You can ask me anything and if it has to do with your family, consider it already done." "No, it's not that, because I know already you will take care of that without having to ask." She tells me. "Then what is your question, little wolf?" "When Alpha Mace steps down and doesn't need Beta Charles anymore, can Beta Charles and his daughter Claire come and live with us? They were the only kind ones to me." "Yes, of course. We can call them and talk to them later and see if they want to." "That reminds me in our haste to leave, I didn't get to say goodbye to Claire. Can I use your phone?" "Yes, let's get back to the packhouse and you are more than welcome to." "Okay, let's shift and go home then. Who wants to race, Derrick asked?" "Me me me me! Can we please Zander?" "Okay, okay, I threw my hands up. I know when I'm outnumbered, I said, smiling." "Man, it's good to see you smiling big guy, Derrick mind links me." "Shut up, I said, laughing." "Oh wait, how are we going to know when to go, Derrick asked?" "Oh, I know three howls from one of the guards, my genius of a mate says." I mind-link my pack to let them know what is going on so nobody freaks out, I then mind-link my Gamma Taylor to howl three times. "You got it, Z he says." "Okay everyone ready to shift?" We all shift and I can't believe how beautiful my mate is in human and wolf form. "You got that right I hear Ben say." The point we laid eyes on our girl that was it for us. We see no other woman but her. "Amen, Ben says." We all stand ready as I tell Taylor that we are ready to go. We all take off at top speed once we hear the three howls coming from him. We aren't taking it easy on my mate, we want her to be the best that there can be. We need a strong Luna to handle my pack. All of a sudden Joelle stops and smells the air and the next thing I know is she's being tackled and rolled. I know exactly who it is by her smell. It's our best female warrior Elizabeth. And she's got a thing for me. I've never given it much thought until now and she's attacking my mate. I take off and go to jump in between them but Willow has other ideas. She is on the defense and is going to protect herself. I don't even know if she can fight. I rush to her not wanting Brittney's wolf Ava to rip out her throat. I tackle Ava and put her on her back with my teeth around her throat, "ENOUGH Elizabeth, I mind link her. I will rip your throat out if you come after my mate again. "WHAT! Your mate Z. She is nothing compared to me." "You will respect your Luna, Elizabeth."

Joelle's pov

Once we hear the howls, I'm off and running as fast as I can. It feels freeing to be out and feel the breeze through my fur. I catch a whiff of something so I stop midrun, I'm then hit from the side and rolled. Willow has had enough of people hurting me so she takes over quickly and all the way. This she-wolf and I roll around snapping and biting. She clamps down on my left hind leg causing me to howl in pain. Nope, not anymore. I surrender power to Willow and let her go after this she-wolf. Before things can get too bad, Zander is there with the wolf by the throat. We all shift back and we are covered with clothes to protect us. "This is the Luna, Elizabeth. " "I would make a better Luna Z." That's Alpha Zander to you, Elizabeth." "What? I don't understand, we had such a good thing going Z." I know what she is trying to do by the smile on her face. She's trying to make me jealous. I won't stoop to that level (just yet). She's trying to provoke me to attack her. I won't but she is making me mad to no end. "Look at her Z, she's a freak with silver hair and purple eyes." That's it I've had it with her disrespect of the Alpha. "You know, Elizabeth is it? Zander has told you several times now to call him Alpha and you keep calling him by name." I get close to her, I may be little but I am done being pushed around by everyone. I go toe to toe with her and say, "you will start respecting your Alpha and Luna or you will be punished. There is no reason for you to act like a five-year-old that didn't get her way and is throwing a fit. You need to straighten up and act like an adult." "Why you little b*tch!" She goes to strike me and I catch it midair." Like I said letting Willow through, you will start respecting us dropping her to her knees." I turn around to Zander and his eyes shine with pride in me, "you ready to get back so I can call Claire, and didn't you want me to see the doctor?" "Ohhhhh uh yeah let's go." We make it to the packhouse in no time. Zander stops me and says, "just so you know she and I have never done anything." "That's okay if you had because it was before me, I say smiling." We headed into Zander's office Derrick of course behind us. I dial Claire's number and it rang only twice before "Joelle is that you, Claire asks?" "Yes, it is." "I'm so happy to hear from you. I was so worried when they told me you had found your mate!!!!" "Yes, I did and that's one of the reasons I'm calling you. I also wanted to let you know that Zander said it's okay for you and Beta Charles to move here after Mace steps down. That is if y'all wanted." "I will for sure be asking my dad as soon as I can, she says.”
