“The threat is real and we should take precaution.” Kyle’s voice interrupted my thoughts. “Eliza is
home, and this is where she obviously belongs. As a member of this tribe we have an obligation to protect
one of our own.” Wyatt agreed. Oh great they were talking about the trouble my being here had caused. I
thought wanting to shrink back into myself and disappear. “I am going to leave you men to your discussion
and go see if the women need any help with the cooking.” I interrupted. I quickly smiled at them and left the
circle making my way over to the shed were the women were preparing the food. I noticed Adsila standing
over a huge hand laid brick grill, so I made my way over to her. I had yet to meet any of the other women.
There was a petite woman standing with her handing her utensils, and seasonings. She was beautiful in her
traditional native american fringed dress and moccasins. Her hair hung down past her behind in long silky
dark stands. She had soft milk chocolate eyes and smiled at me as I approached them. “Glad to have you
with us Eliza.” Adsila commented as she truned torward me with a huge smile on her face. “How are you and
my grandson getting along? I seen you two arrive together this morning.” she asked me, nudging the woman
beside of her with her elbow. “Momma.” The woman scolded. “That is her and Kyle’s business, I’m sure they
will share when they are ready. It’s nice to meet you Eliza.” she smiled at me trying to change the subject. “I
am Elsie Kyle’s mother.” My legs suddenly felt weak and my mouth went dry. Oh my god, Kyle’s mom, what if
she doesn’t like me? I thought as I plastered on my best smile. “He has your eyes.” I told her truthfully. He
obviously got all his features from his mother, aside from his build and jawline he looked nothing like his
father thankgod. A chill running over my body as I thought back to the way he was looking at me across the
fire. “Yes, both of my boys do. How do you like our little tribe?” she asked me as her and Adsila turned their
attention back to the meat cooking on the grill. “I love it here. For the first time in my life I feel like I belong
somewhere.” I told her reaching for some of the spices she was now juggling in her arms. “Oh thank you
dear.” she said to me letting me help her with the items. “I am so glad to hear that. We have been awaiting
your return for some time now. Your parents were wonderful people, and everyone here loved them. We may
not all be blood Eliza, but we are family, a close protective family which you are no apart of.” Elsie explained
to me making me more relaxed and feeling more comfortable. “I hope to get to spend more time with you
after today, mother and I both do.” She told me as she began to place more steaks on the grill.
I spent a couple more hours helping the women prepare our meal for today’s celebration. They taught
me some of the traditional recipes along with some new ones. My favorite was the Kanuche. We had to
pound whole hickory nuts and boil them in water before straining the hulls out. IT results in a rich broth and
was mixed with rice and corn. When the meal was finished and placed on the table Adsila called to the men
letting them know it was time to eat. They wasted no time making their way over to the tables and taking their seats. “How are things going?” Kyle’s voice in my ear made me jump. He circled my waist with his strong
arms giving me a slight squeeze. “It’s great!” I informed him turning in his arms and giving him a quick peck
on the lips. “Don’t get me started Eliza, the moment you touch those luscious lips to mine I want to drag you
into the shadows of the trees and ravage that perfect body.” He growled. “Kyle.” I laughed smacking him
playfully. Kyle took my hand and led me to the table. He was sitting at the head of the table which was not
surprising seeing as he was the Alpha of the tribe. “Sit with me.” he insisted, sitting me to the right of him.
From the other end of the table I heard my grandfather start speaking, and my uncle translating. “We come
her today to celebrate the arrival of one of our long lost family members.” he announced loudly, in his deep
booming voice. “We are once again complete with all of our members home, and once again under our
protection. Losing two of our own was heartbreaking and left us feeling vulnerable, and untrustworthy.” he
explained as tears started polling in my eyes, “but with Eliza’s arrival we can now take back what was stolen
from us and start new. Let’s all toast to new beginnings.” he finished raising his cup as the others followed,
and so did I. Kyle then led with a beautiful traditional prayer and told us to dig in. It wasn’t as I suspected
everyone going for the same dish at once, but Kyle started with his plate and passed the dish around to me
and so on until everyone had a chance at every dish that was cooked. I was enjoying the food way to much
my pants starting to get tight. I looked up from my plate and met the gaze of Kyle’s father. He was just sitting
there watching me. Something about this man rubbed me the wrong way. I decided to ignore him and joined
in on the conversation at the table. “Eliza you must join our quilting circle.” Elsie said to me from across the
table. “I would love to!” I told her genuinely interested in learning everything I could about my culture. “I
suspect we will be making a wedding quilt before soon.” Adsila chimed in. “Mother what did I tell you.” Astrid
once again scolded her. That’s when Kyle stood up from the table taking his glass with him. I looked at him
confused. “I’d like to make an announcement.” he yelled across the chatter. Everyone gave him their
immediate attention. “As you all already most likely know your Alpha has found his mate.” He announced as
my eyes got huge. What the hell? I thought as he took my hand and helped my up next to him. “Eliza will be
your new Alpha female.” he told them confusing the hell out of me. How did they already know, and what the
hell was an Alpha female? I thought fuming and needing a moment to myself. I stood there for what seemed
like forever as ever one came by telling us congratulations and embracing us.
Finally the crowd dispersed and I made my way off into the woods leaving them behind, so I could
have a moment to cool down. “Kyle had no right to do that, especially without talking to me about it first.” I
said thinking out loud to myself. “Please don’t be mad at me Eliza.” Kyle’s said surprising me and making me
jump. “Stop sneaking up on me.” I snapped at him immediately regretting it, when I seen the hurt in his eyes.
He reach for me and I let him take me in his arms and pull me to his chest. The sound of his heartbeat
instantly relaxing me, and calming me down. “I keep forgetting that you haven’t grown up with our customs. I
should have explained everything to you.” he confessed hugging me tightly to his hard warm chest. I pulled
away and sat down on an overturned tree, pulling him down with me. “Explain to me now!” I lightly
demanded. “When we mated I marked you as my mate. Not intentionally, but by instinct.” he explained. “Our
animal takes over and we can’t help it.” He turned to me and undid my top three button pulling my shirt off my
shoulder. He took my hand and ran it across what felt like several imprints in my skin. “Everyone, all
skinwalkers, can sense this.” he told me as I continuously run my fingers over the small indents in my skin. “I
remember, you bit me.” I told him, thinking back to when we were making love, the stinging in my shoulder
that turned to pure ecstasy after a second. “This is how we mark our mates, letting all other males know they
are off limits.” he explained with a concerned expression on his face. I felt like his omission should have
bothered me, but it didn’t. The fact that I was Kyle’s and he wanted to make sure everyone knew made me
hot. I began to feel that familiar ache between my legs. “And the Alpha Female part.” I asked trying to shake off the feeling. “Well when you mate with the Alpha male you become the Alpha female. IT’s not as big a deal
as it sounds really, you basically plan the celebrations and head the women’s meeting every week. My
mother will help you until you get the hang of it.” he told me as he put his hand under my chin lifting my eyes
to his. “I may come up with the decisions for the tribe, but they still must be approved by our council
members. We have a judicial system of sorts. YOu have met the chief executive but their is also a principal
chief, legislature, tribal council , tribunal, and 3 tribal justices.” KYle explained wowing me at the same time.
“HOw do they get these positions?” I asked curiously. “THey are voted in by the tribe when one of the
members passes away or is to sick or old to do their job. We can also elect someone out of office if we
believe they are doing wrong or endangering the tribe. THey can even be banished.” Kyle told me making me
more and more curious about the tribe I Was now a member of. “There are seven clans, the wolf, bear, deer,
paint, bird, wind, and blue. We are the anigilohi tribe aka wind tribe.” he informed me. “Is there anything else
you need to know.” he asked smiling at me with a mischievous grin. I had no idea what this beautiful man
was up to.
He brought his lips down onto mine nibbling and sucking on my bottom lip making a moan escape my
throat. “I need you!” I breathed between moans. “Come!” he demanded, quickly standing up and taking me
by the hand. He led me deep into the woods until we came to an opening in the mountain side. It was
beautiful with streaks of light breaking the darkness from holes in the rock, green and red ferns covering the
floor, as well as tiny purple and blue flowers that sprouted out sporadically through the ferns. “I use to come
here when I was a child. Now I come here whenever I need time away!” Kyle informed me as he led me
deeper into the opening. Suddenly he stopped and turned towards me our eyes locking instantly. He brought
his mouth to mine kissing me passionately while undressing me at the same time. I started clumsily undoing
his shirt and his belt. “I can’t wait much longer.” I growled at Kyle as I began undressing myself. He chuckled
before starting to do the same. Standing there naked in front of him he started searching my body with his
now smoldering dark eyes. It made a shiver run from my feet up to the back of my neck. He laid down on top
of the ferns and the moss bringing me down on top of him. I sat there a moment admiring his washboard abs
and rock hard chest, running my fingers slowly down his torso. “I can’t seem to stay mad at you!” I joked with
him. “That’s a good thing I hope.” He laughed pulling me down on top of him. “I love you Eliza. I have loved
you since the day I was born!” he whispered looking deep into my eyes. “I love you too.” was all I could
manage before he crushed his mouth to mine. We kissed passionately for several minutes before he lifted
my hips and sat me down on his hard member. I moaned loudly as I slid over him slowly. “God you fit me like
a glove.” he growled. I bit my lip as I started moving my hips back and forth getting use to the feel of him
deep inside of me.My fingernails dug into his hard pecs, I started working my hips faster, up and down, back
and forth causing a loud growl to escape Kyle’s chest. I could tell he was reaching climax and so was I. I
leaned over him enabling me to go even faster until finally with erupted simultaneously. I heard the low growl
escaping my mouth as Kyle did the same. I rode him for several second more before my orgasm started to
subside. I sat up on him looking at his chest my mouth hanging open. I had scratched him for his chest all the
way down his abdomen, so deeply it had brought blood. “Oh my god I’m so sorry.” I gasped. “It’s okay
watch.” Kyle laughed pointing to his chest. It was miraculous, before my own eyes the scratches started to
disappear until there was nothing left there but his flawless skin. “Do we all heal that way?” I asked him still
unable to grasp what I had just seen. “Yes we do, you haven’t noticed.” he asked confusion written all over
his face. “I have never been injured bad enough to notice.” I admitted.
We got up and started putting our clothes back on so we could hurry back to the celebration. “We
usually heal in seconds depending on how severe the injury. Our bones do the same when there broken.”
Kyle explained. “If we heal, then how are we killed.” I asked thinking of my mother and father. “Decapitation.” the word cut me like a knife, knowing this was what was done to my parents. “We better get back its dark
outside, your family will want you around the fire for our ending ceremonies.” Kyle smiled as he took my
hand. “Will they know what we just done.” I asked horrified at the thought. “Well unfortunately it is hard to
hide. We can smell almost anything.” he grimaced looking at me. “But don’t worry everyone is pretty good
about not saying anything to embarrass anyone, except for grandma.” This I already knew, the woman had
no filter.
We walked back into the clearing seconds later and everyone was gather around the fire passing
around a long wooden pipe. Kyle and I quietly joined them, listening to the chanting and singing of my
grandfather and Kyle’s grandmother Adsila. Suddenly everyone began to get up and dance around the fire.
There was even one man with turtle shells on his legs making rattling noises. It was beautiful, but I had seen
this before, In one of my dreams. “Kyle!” I whispered “I have been here before in my dreams.” I admitted to
him. “I don’t doubt it, your grandfather has spoke of seeing you on several occasion.” he said to me not
looking at all surprised. We danced for at least several hours the women joining us and them all teaching me
the moves. I couldn’t remember the last time I had had this much fun.
We talked laughed and danced on into the night. I got to know a lot of the people and in the tribe and
was beginning to be able to imagine a future here. I wished my parents could be here, but I had a feeling
they were watching me and were happy with the life I was starting. Later that night, well actually up in the
morning finally home and relaxed in bed with Kyle asleep behind me feeling safe happy and secure, my mind
drifted back to New York. I hadn’t called or checked on Mandy since I had been here because of everything
that was going on. If it wasn’t for school I would have brought her down here with me. Maybe I could make a
trip back up there this week and see if she wants to come on a little vacation. I smiled to myself satisfied with
my decision. I scooted my bottom back against Kyle as he wrapped his arms around be and drifted off into a
peaceful dreamless sleep.
