*Beep Beep Beep*
I'm awoken with a startle, reaching over and turning off my alarm clock. I turn over and see Mason isn't in bed. I grab my phone off the bedside table and check my messages.
Good morning beautiful. I'm in my office getting ready for the king. If you need me just call.
-Mason
I read the text and realize I should also get ready. I scurry out of bed and into the bathroom to shower. Today I should look presentable not that I don't normally but I should look even more Luna like today.
After my shower, wrapped in my towel I sit there and stare at my closet wondering what to wear.
Wear the blue sundress Mason got you for your birthday. It makes your eyes pop. My wolf had a point. I always got compliments in this dress it wasn't super fancy but was just classy enough.
I grab the dress and put it on. After doing my hair and make up, I look at myself in the mirror to make sure I look proper. Then I realize my hickey from Mason is still clearly visible on my neck so I quickly grab some concealer and cover it before heading down to the kitchen.
I can hear the chatter and scurrying of the staff coming from the kitchen. As I enter the door everyone is so busy that I'm not even acknowledged.
"You shouldn't be in here Luna" Isla startled me as she walks in the door behind me.
"I always help out for big occasions like this. And what did I say about calling me Luna?"
"I'm sorry Luna but today you will be addressed properly. Also we think it's best you stay out of the kitchen today and..." she trails off before finishing her sentence I'm assuming because she didn't want to offend me.
"And act like a proper Luna." Margery says from the stove where she is pulling out a tray of muffins.
"A proper Luna would help her pack." I remind her.
"And the best way you can help is to look like that" motioning to me "and stay out of our way." She never was one to sugar coat it.
"Fine I see when I'm not wanted." I say cheekily knowing she won't take me too seriously.
I leave the kitchen and start heading towards the dining hall to see if they need any help in there. When I enter I see that everything is already set up. The buffet table is fully set the only thing missing is the food which was being finished as we speak. The tables were all set and decorated. Nothing to do in here.
I then head to Masons office, maybe he needs my help with something. I walk through the hallways til I get to his door.
*knock knock*
I tap lightly on his door hoping not to startle him too much.
"Come in"
I walk in and Mason is standing behind his desk with his Beta Derek. They are talking over a map of our territory.
"Am I interrupting?" I ask as they both look up at me.
"Not at all. Just planning out the extra patrols while the King is here." Mason walks out from behind the desk wrapping his arms around me in a hug, kissing my cheek. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you. Good Morning." I say turning to Derek who's still behind the desk.
"Good Morning Luna." He replies.
"Ugh not you too." Derek hasn't called me Luna since like the first week after our marriage. He'd gotten pretty used to just using my first name.
"Sorry Luna but my mom has made it very clear everyone is to use proper titles while he's here."
"Very well, Beta Derek." I give him a snarky glare. He hated being called Beta just as much as I hated Luna. Titles made us uncomfortable. Mason was used to his Title.
"Do you need any help in here or am I to be shooed away?" I ask plopping myself on the couch.
"We are actually just finishing up. But there is something you can help me with." He says with a wink.
"Gross. I'll leave you guys alone." Derek makes a quick exit after grabbing the new patrol shifts from the desk.
As soon as the door closes I am pulled up from the couch and into Masons arms. He plants a kiss on my lips and then pulls back looking me in the eyes. He pushes my hair off my shoulder and stares at my neck.
"Why'd you cover up my love bite?" He laughs poking at my hickey. "I kinda like it, shows you're mine."
"It's your unofficial claim?" I ask.
"Kinda. Reminds me of a mating mark." He says with a smile. "Makes me think I should give you a real one."
"Really? You were the one who said we didn't need it." I take a step back from him so I can see his face better.
"I know but I was young then and kinda had the idea we'd still find our mates and things would change. But now I know I don't want them to. You should be mine fully. Mark and all."
I look at him looking for some sort of unsure twitch or something to show me he wasn't being truthful but there wasn't one. He meant what he was saying.
"Yes, of course. I'd love to be your chosen mate and not just your wife." I say with a laugh as the notion of getting marked after we've been married for so long is funny. He pulls me into a hug. "Did you want to do it now?"
I look up at him for an answer and see his eyes glazing over signalling he's getting a mindlink.
"Sorry sweetheart. We are gunna have to wait I've just been told the King has arrived at the gate. We need to go greet our guest. Tonight?"
I nod my head and give him a quick kiss. He grabs my hand and we head to the dining hall to see it full of our pack sitting at the tables.
Mason escorts me to the head table where we stand just in front of it facing the main door to the pack house. I stand at his left side, Derek and Matthew, his Gamma, stand to his right. Mason drops my hand to address the pack.
"Ladies and Gentleman. As you know we are to have a very special guest arriving this morning. I've been told he has arrived at the gate so should be coming through that door any minute. I'd like everyone to be on their best behaviour and for the time being we would like everyone to use our Titles."
"Yes Alpha." Everyone nods in agreement.
"Also my Luna and I have decided to make our union official in the eyes of the Goddess and will be marking each other as our chosen mates." Cheers erupt along with some murmurs of 'about times' and 'took them long enough'.
The cheers die down as we all feel the powerful aura of the Lycan king nearing the door. Katya starts stirring in my head clearly influenced by his presence even though he hasn't even entered the room yet.
The big front door swings open and in march 4 hulking Lycans. All of them tall, muscular and intimidating. Then it hits me the most amazing smell I've ever smelt. It's like the smell of rain just before a thunderstorm mixed with cedar wood.
The 4 Lycans marching toward me break their formation splitting off to each side allowing the most breathtakingly handsome and intimidating man, no, God, march forward. He stops in his tracks and stares right at me. He takes a deep inhale through his nose smelling something. His eyes turning pitch black. He then storms forward making a straight line for me.
S.hit.
He stops just inches from my face. His smell intoxicating. I forget there is anyone around me.
Mate.
