~CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE~ I take a breath. Then I reach forward and take my laptop back from Ivy’s hands—not violently, but firmly enough to make a statement. “My past,” I say calmly, “is no one’s business.” Valentina’s eyes sharpen. Ivy folds her arms. “You’re very bold for someone so easily replaced.” I look at her fully now. “If I were easily replaced,” I say softly, “you wouldn’t still be standing here hoping.” Her smile falters for a fraction of a second.
