~CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN~ I take my time in the shower, letting the hot water wash away the night, the anger, the ache Hardin left behind. By the time I step out, steam clings to my skin and the room is quiet. He’s gone. A towel is wrapped around my chest, another around my hair. The staff has already arranged my things with military precision, my dresses lined neatly, shoes placed like they’re on display. I stare at myself in the mirror for a moment, then reach for a black short bodycon dress. It hugs me perfectly, unapologetically. I slide it on, slip into comfortable footwear, dry and style my hair until it falls effortlessly around my shoulders. Lip gloss. Perfume. One final breath. I don’t just look stunning, I smell sinful.
