~CHAPTER EIGHTY NINE~
He’s seated behind the CEO desk like the boss he obviously is, and it confuses the hell out of me.
For a brief moment, I just stare, trying to connect the pieces. This man confuses me in ways I don’t like. A therapist, a real estate agent… and now this?
He stands as soon as he sees me, his face lighting slightly, though his composure remains intact. “Good morning,” he says smoothly. “Welcome to J&J Real Estate, Mrs. Massimo.”
I walk forward, slower now, my eyes still on him as I take my seat. Dave and Sophia settle beside me, but the atmosphere has already shifted. His gaze lingers longer than it should, and for a moment, I feel it, that quiet tension we never resolved. It makes me uncomfortable, so I look away first.
