~CHAPTER NINETY~ “I’m legally married,” I say, pulling my hand back. “You should find someone else.” He shakes his head. “I’m not asking for more than you can give,” he says. “I just want… something real. The way you used to look at me.” I try to withdraw my hand fully, but he holds on a second longer. “Blake,” I say, firmer now. “Let go.” He does, but reluctantly. “As long as I’m married to Hardin, there’s no chance for us.” He stands, pacing once as if working through that. “As long as you’re married?” he repeats. “So if you weren’t—” “That’s not happening,” I cut in. “Hardin won’t let this marriage fall apart, and I don’t want it to either. So don’t wait for that.” He looks at me for a long moment, something determined settling in his expression. “There’s no harm in hoping,”
