I look forward to working with you.” Then she excuses herself and slips out, leaving the two of us alone again. My pulse snaps. My patience finally snaps. I turn to him, voice trembling with contained anger. “What exactly do you think you’re doing? This is my life, you don’t get to rearrange it just because you feel like it.” He doesn’t even flinch. “I do,” he answers calmly. “And you’ll adjust.
