BALL GONE SOUR

Rhydian led the way downstairs as we went to hall for the ball. When we were halfway down the stairs, he turned around to look at me then said, "Magda, please don't be afraid of anything. I am here for you now and don't lose your temper and wolfout, I will be in serious trouble if that happens. Now, hold my hand so that people won't think otherwise."

"Wait, you have said what you wanted now let me talk. Don't worry of how I will be afraid, rather worry of how you and your people will be afraid as soon as I wolf out and that can only happen if you allow whatever I said earlier to happen. Oh, and yes, I am not holding your hand to the ball. Let people think what they want to think, I don't care! I do as I please. After you please."

I walked behind him slowly and as soon as we were downstairs, all eyes in the ballroom turned to us. Then suddenly and weirdly, I heard everyone clapping their hands. "What are they doing?"

"My father has obviously announced about you and me already so they are clapping to welcome us. They now officially know you as my girlfriend and the soon to be queen of our kingdom."

"Say wha..........?!"

"Attention! Attention please!" Rhydian's father suddenly interrupted my shock. "This here is the girl we have all been waiting for. Rhydian has finally found a girl for himself and she is here to introduce herself to all of us. Whoever has a question will ask as soon as she is done. Magdalene, the floor is yours."

"Rhydian, if anything happens trust me, you will be in for a big surprise. I hope you're ready!" I walked towards the father then cleared my throat. "My name is Magdalene Aurora and I am from the wolf land." After saying those two words, wolf land, the whole hall went into murmurs as they were asking themselves what I was trying to mean. I cleared my throat again as a way of telling them to keep quiet then Rhydian came to my rescue.

"What she means is that, in their kingdom they consider wolves to be sacred. They don't hold in grudges with wolves and because of their love for the wolves, the kingdom is named after them, wolf land as she said. It is nothing to worry about."

"I am sorry for the inconvenience." I began again in a low tone. "My kingdom is known as Uribe. I am the first daughter to my father and mother. I don't know if you people will allow this but I know that Rhydian is good, kind hearted guy and he is the perfect match for me. Thank you all for your time!"

Mr Collins then came up afterwards, "now that we've heard from her, let us welcome her with some dancing. My dear, will you grant me this chance to dance with you?"

"Father, I would really love to be the first to dance with her. May I please?" His father nodded in approval. I knew nothing about dancing but Rhydian assured me that everything will be okay. He held my hands and place them on his shoulders then he kept his hands around my waist and led me step by step. "You can be a good Alpha you know," I whispered to his ears. He smile softly then suddenly the lights went off. Rhydian told me to wait for him as he went to check what was wrong with the lights.

As he left, his father brought a burning lamp to me then told me to hold it but the moment my eyes caught the glimpse of the fire, I was shocked. I was almost wolfing out but the man didn't care, he kept on telling me to hold it. I took the lamp in his hand and threw it down then ran away. When Rhydian came, he was shocked to hear what had happened after the lights were already back.

Collins Rollins took advantage of the situation then said, "I, Collins, do not approve of this marriage because this girl is wolf. I can't let my son get married to a wolf and he's a human being just like me. My son will not marry a wolf and that's final."

Rhydian began trying to convince his father, "father she is the woman I have chosen for myself and she is not a wolf. Just because she ran away from the fire here, doesn't mean that she is a wolf. She fears the fire because her little brother died in a fire outbreak and from then she has been afraid of it. She is the one that my heart has chosen and I believe I am not wrong, I love her!"

The moment I had run out of the hall, I transformed into my wolf form immediately then ran to the forest to meet my family, my pack. Before I could reach far, I heard footsteps from behind me. I stood still then took down the scent and for sure it belonged to Rhydian. I changed back to my human form then hid behind a tree and asked, "why did you follow me Rhydian? I told you to look out so that I had no contact with fire but you failed it. If you could fail such an easy task then how will you manage to bring the two different worlds together?" I asked full of anger.

"I know you're angry and it is justified but please, please don't leave now. I am willing to make peace with the wolves as soon as I be king but it seems like my queen is already leaving. How do you think my father is ever going to let me have the throne if you don't allow me to have this chance with you. We'll both be happy for the peace of our kingdoms and both of us will lead them. Please don't let me down, I need you."

"Fine then, if you say so but I have to see my pack and tell them everything that's happening and what will happen next. I just want to take a short time with my family then I will be back soon, I promise."

"Fine, I will take you! I also want to meet with wolves and see how a pack is."

"You can't come with me because you will be confused and worn out. The wolves of my pack are very dangerous and I don't want any human being hurt right now for no good reason. Wait for me and I'll be back. Don't tell anyone please."

"You can count on me for that then. Don't take long please and greet all the wolves for me especially the Cubs. Bye!"
