Early morning on Tuesday, February 18 Volodymyr Kulchytskyi went to Hru-shevskyi street. He came there with his son to support the peaceful march of the Eu-romaidan to the Verkhovna Rada [Parliament]. Yet in a few hours the meeting developped into a bloody street fighting.
“He was staying near one of the strongest barricades in Khreshchatyk street at the side of European Square. It was guarded by one or maybe even two sotnyas [hundreds] of the Self-defence,” the son of the hero of the Celestial Hundred son recalls. “It was the barricade which on February 18 several units of security forces approached from Hrushevskyi street.
