“My dad is a hero. Now he is an angel who will always look after us,” this is how Yuriy Paskhalyn—junior speaks about his father. In the night of February 19 Berkut men shot his dad in the back on the Maidan while trying to break through the line of protesters.
Injured Yuriy was brought to the medical unit based on the ground floor of the House of Trade Unions and when the government forces set it on fire, he was evacuated along with others. An ambulance took Paskhalyn to hospital №18 in Shevchenko Boulevard but doctors could not save him.
His wife says, that unfortunate night was Yuriy's second time on the Maidan. Before that he just watched the news and, like many others, criticized the government in front of TV.
