“Why aren’t they moving?” Ember screamed unexpectedly, causing everyone in the room to jump a little. My eyes immediately darted to the screen. I held my breath, praying to see something. I could feel Ember’s panic and fear coursing through our bond. I jumped from the bed, a growl escaping my throat, as I made my way over to the ultrasound machine and the doctor. Dr. Clearwater was visibly nervous, and I could barely sense DeAngelo stepping towards me.
“Dr. Clearwater, answers, now.” I glared at him. Sweat was beginning to form at the bridge of his brows as he stared at the screen, gliding the wand over Ember’s baby bump. “L-l-look closely, Alpha.” He stuttered and pointed, never making eye contact. I squinted where his finger was aimed at, and relief flooded through me.
