***Ember POV***
I could hear Kendric and Gage talking as I approached the dining room. As I walked in Kendric stood bowing his head in respect. “Hi Kendric.” I noticed his mate standing beside him, she had her head bowed and looked really nervous. Kendric nudged her with his elbow, and she looked up, not making eye contact with me. She was beautiful. Shiny, long black hair falling to her waist and dark blue eyes. She was a little thinner than me but quite a bit taller than I was.
“Luna, this is my mate, Kala,” Kendric announced proudly as he wrapped his arm around her waist. I reached out to shake her hand, “Hi Kala, I’m Ember.” I could feel Gage’s disapproving glare on me.
