The room was silent for what seemed like forever as Catalina looked at her father in surprise, her eyes widening at the thought of his question. Then she finally decided to break the silence. "Why would you think that, Papa?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion. “Why would you think that I may be in love with Pedro?”
Antonio sighed and leaned back in his chair in the bedroom, his face betraying a mixture of concern and sadness. "I cannot help but wonder, Catalina. Why would you want Pedro to stay with the knowledge you have? I’m asking myself, could it be that you are also in love with and that is the true reason why you would want him to stay?" he asked softly with his cracked voice.
