Pedro and Lucia sat together on the couch, enjoying a moment of quiet and breathing hard from running about the house for hours. The day had been filled with lots of happiness and brief moments of sadness and tension. Pedro could not help but feel a wave of exhaustion washing over him.
He glanced at his precious daughter, who was looking at him waiting for him to be ready so that they could continue their play, hoping she would not mind if he took a brief rest from their play. "Hey, princess, I need to ask you something," Pedro said still trying to catch his breath, his voice breaking from gentle gasps and exhaustion. "Do you mind if I rest for a little while, please?"
