“Ding dong! Ding dong!” the doorbell rang. Catalina woke up abruptly in a dream at the sound. For a moment, she thought she was dreaming, as she had just seen her father in her sleep, ringing the doorbell to their old house. It felt safe and comforting, and she longed to hold onto that dream. She hugged him tightly and beckoned him into the house.
“Ding dong!” the doorbell sounded again and this time, reality set in as Catalina jolted from her sleep. She opened her eyes to see that she was dreaming earlier and that she was actually in her new home in West Jefferson. She lay in bed trying to shake off the sleepiness as she let out a yawn while stretching her limbs.
