Chapter 13 Better to show you

“Well this is where you’ll be staying for the night.”

“Night?”

“Yes father-i mean councilman Rook says there will be a sand storm blowing through soon. Your friends will be next door.”

“They’re not exactly our friends, more like associates.”

“Apologies. I have to ask, ``Are you…...here to kill my father?”

Me and Johnny looked at each other shocked and suddenly I felt that this was getting deeper than I expected. 

“Why would we want to kill your dad?”

As she was about to speak the guy that was standing with Gordo earlier was walking into the opened door. Up close he was a little taller than me and johnny about 6 foot 2 inches, dark brown hair, freckles running across face cheek to cheek. Young but there was a bit of oldness to him.

“Brook, I hope you’re making our guests feel comfortable.”

“Yes Adam i was getting on with the tour.”

“I’ll tag along then.”

Brook showed us around this medieval base and it was quite charming. Not very many buildings for not so very many people seemed. It was colorful to say the least, reds, blues, yellows fun peaceful colors. The people also seemed more lively than the people back at Alexandria. People looked on at us in amazement as if they’d never seen people from other bases.

I let Johnny and Brook walk out in front while me and this Adam stayed in the back.

“You’ll have to forgive the people, it has been quite awhile since new people have come to visit.”

“I figured. I've never been to this base before so i thought you guys had visitors from other bases.”

“Tell me, are you and your friend here close to Staulchs son?”

“Riles? No he’s a rat to me and honestly he can’t be trusted. But you seem bold enough to ask are you guys hiding anything we should know about?”

He stopped and looked me right into my eyes. It felt like he was staring into my soul. He smirked and handed me a piece of paper. 

“Follow these instructions and be at the location tonight and come alone make sure you’re not followed.”

He started walking off in another direction and I heard Johnny call my name. I turned to look where he was calling from but when I looked back Adam had disappeared. I caught up to Johnny and Brook and we continued on our little tour and we eventually made our way back to our room. As Brook was about to leave I stopped her away from johnny. 

“Brook? Why did you ask if we were here to kill your dad?”

“I probably shouldn’t say anything else, I could get into trouble, I'll have someone bring you your meals soon.

I let her go and watched her walk down the hall to leave the building. I wasn’t sure if i had more than Riles to worry about or if any of these people were on our side. One thing was for certain nothing around here seemed…normal. 

Later on that night I waited for Johnny to fall asleep so i could sneak out quietly. I wasn’t sure if Riles or Erwin were in their room but if they already had a plan then they would be. I followed the instructions on the paper and I stopped at a dead end. A wall with some sort of weird mural on it. All I could see next was pure blackness. Someone put a bag over my head and began dragging me somewhere. His grip was so strong, and it seemed like he was pulling me with ease before we finally stopped and he sat me down and pulled the bag off my head. It was Adam.

“What the f**k you-”

“Easy Xandrian, Adam meant you no harm.”

“Gordo?”

I looked to my left and Rook was sitting in a chair as well.

“What the hell is going on? Why did you put a f*****g bag over my head?”

“Adam, are you sure we can trust him?”

“Have I ever been wrong about trustworthy people mother?”

“Can someone please tell me what’s going on?”

They all looked at each other and nodded their heads making a decision without saying anything. Gordo took a step back and began undressing herself.

“Better to show you than to tell, human.”

When she completely undressed herself her skin started changing into metal and instead of two arms she had six. Her eyes started to glow a bright bluish color and at first i couldn't believe my eyes. The general and his brother were right and earth was being played this whole time.

“All will be explained in time human.”
