EIGHTEEN

Amber and auburn covered the sky like a shroud solace that warmed the heart after a vicious night of terrors. Damien opened his eyes to the light and his heart settled with a bitter relief when he found himself standing in a meadow he knew all too well. He gazed around and found everything just the way he had left it. The flowers danced to an invisible breeze that flew all his worries away, the green of the woodlands and the blues of the sky blended in the background, soothing the eyes and his weary soul. "What are you so tense about?" He heard her sweet voice ask from behind him and on cue, he felt her hands snaking themselves around his torso from behind as she rested her head on his back. He took out his hands from his pockets and took hers in his, kissing their palm before he turned around and was met with her chocolate brown eyes.  He knew this was just a dream. He knew this would never happen but as usual, his soul let go of his mind, and at that moment, he was hers and his heart was hers to protect and hers to break. "Just thinking about you, angel." He whispered, tracing the back of his hand along her cheek in an affectionate manner. She was the dream he would give his reality up for. She giggled in a musical chime that made his heart flutter in his chest. "You know that I am always here for you, my love." She stated lovingly. He smiled and nodded before bending his head to kiss the middle of her forehead deeply. He then rested his forehead on hers and spoke with his eyes closed, "you are in danger." He whispered in a pained voice, his senses returning to him. She furrowed her brows, pulling back to look at him softly, "what do you mean?" She asked and before he could reply to her, the dream was disrupted by reality and his body was forced away from her, his conscience returned and his eyes jolted open. "DAMIEN!" He heard Adonis scream as he sat up straight and looked around, baffled. They were both still in his wrecked living room. "What the hell happened?" Damien asked the angel who seemed weak but his wounds from before had healed. "Your psycho sister took Eleanor and threw you out of the f*****g window! I caught you before the civilians could notice a Celestial falling down upon them." He informed with a bitter tone which was a given, considering what Rebekah had done. She had taken Eleanor with her and could possibly be on her way to end the heiress' life. He could not let that happen. She was the girl of his dreams, the girl who had ruled his heart for centuries; he wasn't going to let anything happen to her. He was certain of it. "Do you know where the mares could have taken her?" Damien asked Adonis as he got up and shrugged on his suit jacket, ready to leave. Adonis clicked his tongue in disapproval. "I was about to ask you the same thing. This was your sister's doing. Do you know where she could have taken her?" Damien thought over Adonis' words before cussing out in frustration when he did not come up with anything. "I'll have to trace Liam." He muttered before his eyes flashed blue once again and Adonis was surprised to see them for the first time. He had never seen a Ravena's true eyes before. He had to admit, they were mystical. Damien focused his powers on finding his brother. His magic unfurled and danced inside him in ravenous flames as he reached out to Liam until blurred images began to appear in his head as he entered Liam's consciousness and saw what he had seen. The ruins and the red cloaks of the mares...the distinct sound of the sea crashing at the boulders...the abandoned castle in the middle of the sea... Damien opened his eyes with a gasp. He knew exactly where Rebekah had taken them. "Did you find her?" Adonis asked in urgency. Damien saw the look of intense worry in the angel's eyes and even though he would never admit it, it irked him greatly. He nodded. "They're in an old castle we once owned in the old times. It was Rebekah's favorite place in the world. She was heartbroken when we had to leave it. Over the years, the island was abandoned because people believed that the castle was haunted; in reality, it was just Rebekah keeping mortals away from what she loved most." Damien explained before he stepped back and pushed his hand forward in order to create a portal in the middle of the room, just like Rebekah had created earlier. "Come on." Damien urged Adonis. "We don't have time to spare." Adonis nodded and followed Damien's lead as the men stepped into the portal and when it opened on the other side, Adonis' feet hit the concrete grounds of the very castle Damien had just told him about. The blond angel looked around and was instantly hit by the want to go rushing in and save Eleanor. However, he was wise not to do that. "Alright, what do you suppose we need to do?" Damien asked the angel. "In order to kill Ellie with the Elarma blade, Anderson will have to bind it with Volcanic Ash; it's lethal to angels." He explained. "True form of Volcanic Ash can only be found in the Demonworld and so, we have to now assume that Lilian already knows of Eleanor's presence here." "Which means that we have to fight off Anderson, my darling sister, the humongous army of the mares, and possibly the queen of the Demonworld herself?" Damien snarled bitterly, "we're screwed." Adonis shook his head. "The moment you find Eleanor and Liam, take them and leave. I will hold the mares off until then." He demanded from the Ravena. Damien gave him an unsure look, "how are you going to do that?" Adonis smirked right before his angelic wings appeared behind his back and his eyes shimmered golden with their magic. "Don't underestimate a Morgenstern, Damien." Damien's eyes matched Adonis' murderous gaze before they turned cerulean again as the two men nodded to each other and stalked up to the castle doors with the greed of saving Eleanor high on their heads.
