When I let Blake into my life I made the choice to be very private with our communication to each other we send each other text every morning if I went running so he knew to watch for me we didn't make our intentions with one another known to anyone we decided they would know we were friends but our private conversations were done alone and out of eyesight of others.

My heart instantly connected emotionally to him everything he felt and did I felt it too.

Granny Gene arrived Monday morning and made her presence known she got set up in the large bunks with the main crew and she was seeking me out, I was running when she arrived but I knew she was here I could hear her over my earbuds. I smiled and made my way to her, she had Mellow in her room chatting her head off about the midway and ride crew, Granny Gene don't do rides never has so she was fascinated that a woman was a foreman of rides.

What you mean baby you don't work in food or games they let the women run rides here, shew child this show gonna give granny a run for her money...

Granny's beautiful alabaster skin and deep brown eyes enthralled you instantly she had the energy that brought you into her to hear what she had to say she was calming yet loving nature kept you present. She made everyone who met her love her and here's the kicker she's barely 50 she just loves being called Granny Gene its a sign of respect for the elders of a show. She worked for Florida Boss man for 20 years when he was just starting out and had the show running smooth but at some point in the last 5 years he started being disrespectful and ungrateful for the returning help. She got fed up when Boss man intentionally hired drug heads and narcs to snitch on help that's shown him nothing but respect for the last few decades.

I walked up casually and granny spun around so fast and lunged at me to grab me in the largest warmest strongest bear hug a grandma could possibly give a soul.

Mellow sorted out her thoughts before speaking and asked nonchalantly so you two know each other

Granny's laugh cut through the field, of course baby this my granddaughter don't we look alike

I patted her back and hugged her side and told Mellow this is my best friend from my Florida show she decided to leave and Ronnie and Tony offered her a job.

She helped raise me on my other show she showed me how to work as fast as I do and we worked side by side make onion rings for years until they upgraded me to be ogled and work games.

To be honest your daddy forced them to get you out of the food truck with me he thought I was corrupting you cause you went to school and still worked he thought schooling was stupid.

I perked up a reply coming from the man who couldnt read shit

Granny laughed again and her hearty laugh brought out more crew to meet her.

Granny Im all sweaty and gross Im going to shower you go ahead and meet more folks and well talk at the midway we gotta set up today.

I winked and walked to my bunk room to shower and change into setup clothes today was either going to drag on or be fast.

A two day run at a community school was a new one for me we never did a show less then 10 days ever in my years of doing this so getting rides and joints to a location less then 30 mins down the road ended up being a 2 hour adventure of drive and drag and crew being usless and in the way. I seen Blakes frustation but couldnt walk up to him and hug him to calm him down instead Granny and I stepped up with the crew got them going on cleaning and setting up while Boss man and Blake got the remaining rides and joints placed we double check that its at its location and got started.

William tried walking off twice from his job to help the girls in food but I ran him off he called me a b***h so many times today that I found it amusing, I looked at Granny and said next time he says it I'm sucker punching his ass she shook her head and said no baby he's useless help and they eventually get canned we all know this

Cicily looked at Granny and me and snapped

Well first off new girls he's been here 10 years they'll never let him go and second off new girls your the useless help you leave nothing for the rest of us and we aren't getting paid maybe get out of the way and let someone else work around here

Granny didn't take well to sass and responded in the only logical way she knew how

Well if you got off your ass and worked you would get paid instead of sitting there watching us work, for someone whos been on this show for 10 years you sure don't seem to know how to do your own joint and get on with another project you would think you would have had that figured out by now I've been here 5 hours and done finished 5 joints and 3 food trailers all while you sat there but what do I know I'm the new girl as you say....

every girl in the area heard granny go off and snapped there heads around and started laughing it made there day hearing Cicily get ripped into, Tony and Ronnie rounded the corner from talking to Boss man and were laughing too cause they heard the whole thing go down.

Cicily jumped up off the back porch she was sitting on at the food trailer and started to whine to Tony and Ronnie they looked at her and said we don't want to hear it and kept walking the midway to meet the committee for the school event.

We finished well before the boys and I decide to go see if Mellow needed any help she always gets stuck with green hands looking for extra cash at the spots were at cause she the most patient with them,

Hey girl how's it going were done over there came to see if you could use some hands over here.

THANK YOU GOSH... girl if I get one more moron over here to help me I'm going to loose my s**t get the girls we can have this done in an hour.

I jogged back to the girls who were all sitting around at this point and told them Mellow needed us and we got this everyone got up but Cicily and Granny I nodded respectfully at her and walked away with the girls to finish up Kiddie land rides.

Putting together a coaster that had to be balances was quit the adventure for me, I climbed into the trailer and pushed out chucks and planks for leveling and had to unstick several pieces of track that apparently got crammed into the trailer last location. Mellows frustration at the broken pieces was starting to show. We set as far as we could go but two pieces needed sync hooks rewelded before it could be placed together

Dammit dammit dammit I have to get Blake and he's gonna be pissed its the last thing he wants to deal with week 2 into season is rewelding sync knots.

I knew what she meant he was worried about broken joints and rides this week because of the amount of greenies from last location it was stressing him so much he was getting migraines I rubbed his temples twice this week to soothe him.

Let me tell him after we finish the rest of these rides maybe he wont snap on anyone maybe he will probably snap on me but I can take it.

we wrapped up the plane ride and trains worked our way to the kiddie swings and umbrella fold outs and one of the newer motorcycles Boss man refurbished this winter had a smashed in headlight I looked at Mellow and shrugged knowing this was another nail in the coffin of pissing off the Howard men today.

I walked the midway slowly without thinking walked up to Blake and grabbed his forearm and squeezed,

hey gorgeous you've been busy today

yeah I helped Mellow after foods were done ummm listen there's a few broken pieces in kiddie land and I volunteered to come tell you so you wouldn't scream at the girls because we didn't break it we found it

his forearm clenched in my grasp and I felt his anger in my hand

Blake please don't explode on Mellow she got the s**t help from last spot she already knew there were some damage she was just hoping it wasn't so bad

he walked behind me and I moved quickly down the midway so he knew where to work first and he seen the broken and snapped sync hooks he didn't yell he went to the generator truck grabbed his gear and came back he welded the four pieces on the spot

Don't move them until we leave what else is broken Ris

he used my pet name in front of the girls and we hadn't done that yet I smiled at him and walked him to the ride folds and showed him the motorcycles damage he cringed dads going to be pissed Ris unhook it and bring it to the truck it cant be fixed here ok

I did what he asked and he took it to the truck

Mellow walked over to me after Blake walked away and said

What the f**k did I just witness that kid explodes at everyone that's the calmest I've ever seen him EVER

I shrugged my shoulders and walked to the trucks to leave for the night we were finished and out of daylight.

Arriving back at the shop Ronnie walks up to me with a stack of papers from the mail and said umm did you forward some mail to our company PO Box.

No ma'am I only used the shop address for my new banking information when I got to town I'll get a personal PO Box next week I completely forgot

Clarissa its ok look you got some personal letters here from a address close by and some documents from a bank it looks kind of important.

Yes ma'am just confused I guess , well ok listen I found out before I left my dad that my mother came from an extremely wealthy family and she hasn't contacted anyone in a long time when I found stuff on her. I looked into it and all I found was a bank account here in this area and that's how I found your tiny show its what brought me here to begin with.

My eyes glossed and I stood still and shook my head yes for a couple seconds before gathering all the papers out of her hands this whole satiation was so new and I was still trying to embrace it.
