Elara sat at the table with her partner's family, feeling uncomfortable. She didn't want to be there, especially under the watchful eyes of Alpha Alden's family, who scrutinized her, some out of curiosity, others with dark glances.

"So, dear, tell us a bit about yourself. Where are your parents? Do you have siblings? What do you do? Where do you live? And what's your wolf lineage?" Elara's mother-in-law seized the opportunity, wanting the complete history of Elara's life. Feeling anger, Elara replied, "Well, let's see if I can answer your entire life questionnaire, even though I didn't ask anything about yours!"

There was a pause, and no one said anything. "My parents are already dead, in the Alpha mate battle, Alden's father, when I was a child. I was raised by their friends. I have a degree in Biology, head of the marine study center on the Oil Platform, where I live. I rarely come to the city, and I have no more living relatives. My wolf is... let's say, a warrior. We're always together. Yesterday, we disagreed because she wanted your son as her mate, especially being an alpha. I wasn't made to be anyone's Luna; my freedom is the most important thing to me."

There were murmurs at the table, everyone began talking quietly to each other. "Speak up, don't be shy, because I don't bite strangers!" Elara said, sipping wine in front of her.

"Well, we have no words, dear, you were honest, so thank you for that. But I think it's good to be careful with your words, as I am still your mother-in-law, and older than you. Now, since your mother is mated with my son, I have obligations to you, and you to me," Elara's mother-in-law spoke softly, as if her voice were a song.

"You don't need to do that, seriously. I don't intend to live here. After all, your son already has a lover; I can smell her here. Right now, she's upstairs with your son, my mate, as you yourself mentioned, throwing herself at him. I'm holding onto the table because my wolf wants to shift and rip her head off, but I know my mate wouldn't allow it, causing a fight that I'd rather avoid."

Everyone looked surprised at Elara. She had no filter.

"Excuse me, I'll go get my son." Elara's mother-in-law got up, and Elara started eating. She was nervous and didn't want to go through humiliation, especially in front of her mate's family, because of an unpleasant situation.

After a few minutes, Alpha Alden arrived and sat next to his mate at the head of the table, in his usual seat. His mother came down.

One could hear the shouts of an angry woman upstairs.

"I think you haven't sorted out your personal problems yet, my mate, and I told you to take out the trash before looking for me!"

"Be careful how you speak of her, you don't have that right! Don't make me angry!" Alpha Alden threatened Elara.

"You angry? Have you seen my wolf angry? She knows the laws, and this is a circus. She has the right to rip your lover's head off, I just haven't let her yet because I know no one asked for that, neither did I nor you! So let's come to an agreement!" Elara said, and everyone looked at her, even Alpha Alden changed his posture.

"Okay, I'm listening!"

"You're Alpha Alden, but above all, you're a wolf like me. You can reject me as your mate, just as you're doing now by protecting your lover. The bond you made yesterday is broken, and each of us will live our own life. I might even leave the pack, but the rejection needs to come from both of us. It's no use me saying it, and you turning your back!"

Everyone at the table was surprised. Alpha Alden's mother even spit out her wine, and his sister choked on her food.

"Are you out of your mind? My son will never do that. It will be a humiliation to our family and to you! You know that no one else mates with a rejected one," Elara's mother-in-law spoke angrily, staring at her.

"I won't do that; my mother is right. I didn't ask for this, and neither did you. We have obligations to traditions and to the pack. You are now Luna!" Alpha Alden responded and began to eat. Everyone started eating, and there was silence in the room until they heard footsteps. Elara looked up and saw her mate's lover; she was wearing a mini dress and provocative makeup.

Elara took a deep breath.

"Good evening, family. Are you going to eat too?" Ravenna said sarcastically, and Elara's wolf growled.

"Well, I'm done. Alden, can you show me where I'll sleep?" Elara said, standing up.

"I haven't finished eating!" Alpha Alden said, looking at Ravenna.

"Hmm, so you prefer that I wait and let my wolf take over?" Elara threatened.

"Calm down, Elara, I'll accompany you. You'll sleep in my son's room; I've already changed everything for you and removed the scents that shouldn't be there!" Elara's mother-in-law spoke, calming things down.

"No, Mom, sit. Elara will eat with everyone here! Ravenna isn't leaving because of her; you'll have to learn to live together!" Alpha Alden said in a thick, authoritative tone. His mother sat down; she couldn't go against her alpha, but Elara stood up, smiling.

"Not in your dreams. I've told you to take out the trash! But since you don't respect me, let's see what you make of this."

Elara took a step back; in just one leap, she transformed into her wolf, giant, with fur all white, like gold, an incredible light.

The wolf howled in fury, looked at her mate, and Alpha Alden stood up.

"Transform back, into human, it's an order!" The alpha's eyes turned red.

But Elara's wolf growled at the alpha, dragged her paws, challenging him, showing that she wouldn't obey.

"Elara, control your wolf! It's an order!"

The wolf released a smile, indicating it was Elara.

The wolf looked at Ravenna, who at this point was terrified. She had never seen a wolf this size; only Alpha Alden looked like that.

Elara's wolf growled at Ravenna, who stood up and ran to the corner of the table. The wolf looked at Alpha Alden.

"Don't do this; I'll hurt you," he said in a growl, but he didn't transform.

The wolf howled, and with just one leap, it was in front of Ravenna, who screamed.

"Love, Alpha Alden, help me, our son! She's going to kill our baby!"

The wolf took a step back, growled, slammed its paws forcefully on the ground, transforming back into human form. She was naked in front of everyone, but she didn't care; tears began to flow from her face.

"Alden, is this true?" Elara asked, looking at her mate.

"Yes, she just told me a little while ago when I went to change clothes. That's why she's staying; I won't throw my son away like garbage!"

Alpha Alden's mother stood up.

"This is a lie; she can't be pregnant, only after mating does she get pregnant!" Solin said angrily, feeling betrayed by her son.

"And who said he didn't do that?" Ravenna lowered the top of her dress, showing a bite on her breasts.

"Moon Mother..." Elara said, feeling sick.

"Impossible!" Fen said, surprised.

"What's going on here? You can't have two mates, did you bite my son, Ravenna?" Solo asked, confused.

"No, your wolf wouldn't allow it. He took on the form of Alpha Alden, pushed me away, and ran off. The next day, I didn't see Alden for two weeks; I found out about the pregnancy on the day of the mating with her Alpha Alden!" Ravenna said, crying.

"This is the first time I've seen this! Alpha Alden's wolf rejected her, even though he wanted her as a mate. So, your mark is worthless, dear. It's just an Omega mark now. You'll have to serve the family for your eternity, become the Omega of his Luna, and have a bastard in the eyes of the Moon Mother because you weren't the chosen one!" Kaliston said, laughing at the situation.

"The family's reputation has already been tarnished, mate, to the dishonor of our Alpha Alden, in front of our Moon Mother, and there will be a fruit of this betrayal!" Alpha Alden's aunt spoke with disgust.

"No one will know anything; Ravenna will have our child, won't be exposed as an omega. She will continue as my Beta secretary! Elara will tell everyone that she got pregnant, will use fake bellies, and when the child is born, she will take care of him as if he were hers. He won't be a bastard; he has my blood, even if he's not from my Luna!"

The room fell silent, and the atmosphere grew heavy. Everyone was in shock at what Alpha Alden said.

"No, no, my son, he's mine!" Ravenna screamed in fury.

"Hmm, I agree with Ravenna this time. I won't raise anyone's bastard. And another thing, I won't stay in the same house as her. Alden, you sort things out with the Moon Mother, because I guarantee she won't let this go unpunished! So, excuse me, I won't be part of this. I love the Moon Mother, and she comes first, even before you, Alden!"

Elara transformed into her wolf, jumped through an open window, and ran towards the city.

The alpha growled so loudly that everyone could feel his anger.
