The Truth Is Hard to Bear

1850 Words
2 months, it had been now 2 months since Jamey's world had flipped upside down, she was able to shift back with some help from May. However, once she did shift back, she ran, she ran as fast as she could possibly bear until she reached the safe haven of her apartment, there she bolted her doors and barricaded herself in. She shut her phone off and cried, she cried for what seemed like days. Everyone tried to get her to come out, even Katie who flew back in from Italy, but Jamey didn't care anymore, she had been lied to for years and now they expected her to be okay? Katie even knew the truth but didn't tell her and they had been so close as children too, even with the age difference of over 10 years.      Jamey sighed, 2 months ago she was crying her eyes out and wanting to die and now here she was in May's car driving to Washington with no other option, she didn't want to leave California, she missed the sprawling city and she missed the traffic and the weather most of all, she had visited Washington once with Mike to see Forks, he was obsessed with the Twilight book series and insisted that they visit the state where it all took place. Even though Jamey hated the state, she couldn't deny Mike the right to have fun, he rambled on and on about Forks for weeks, she hated the wet weather but she had suffered for Mike's sake. She smiled sadly to herself, how she missed Mike, but since their disagreement, he was gone, she had rushed to his apartment before she left and he was gone,  no furniture or clothes or even photos. The landlord said he disappeared in the middle of the night, packed most of his belongings and sold the rest.      "Jamey you know you can talk to me about anything right? If you have questions or are wondering about things?" May interrupted her thoughts again.     May had been almost desperate to get Jamey to let her in, she had waited 21 years to finally take her daughter home but she wasn't even acknowledging they were related.     Jamey rolled her eyes and cranked her phone up even higher, thanks to the stupid werewolf hearing, it was only too easy to hear May over the loud screaming music. Thanks to headphones though, she could easily crank it up to 100% and close her eyes and completely ignore May.     May suddenly reached over and yanked Jamey's headphones, "Listen here young lady, you will learn that I am your Luna, therefore, you can't just sit there and ignore me just because you're too stubborn to accept that this is your FATE."     Jamey swallowed and shut her music off, she looked up at her new Mother expecting to see hostility or anger but instead, her eyes were flowing with tears, "You know me and your Father never wanted this for you, we were so excited when we found out we were having a daughter, we had only sons prior to you but your Father wanted a female so badly, he prayed to the Moon Goddess herself for a daughter, and when we finally had you, our lives were finally completed, until 2 months after you were born, we received horrible news, that your fate was in danger, your life itself was in danger, I quickly scoured across America, seeking the solution for you, we found none, we finally decided that in order to keep you safe, we had to give you away, I was able to contact Bethany, my oldest friend, she had lost her husband recently and I knew she had plenty of room and love for you, so I gave you to her... she was supposed to send you back when you turned 18 but for some reason she dropped contact with me, so I began to hunt for you myself. Eric doesn't even know I'm here doing this, he thinks I'm in Spain seeking answers, I've never lied to him before. I just want to surprise him by showing him that his beautiful daughter was home."     Jamey rolled her eyes, "Great speech May but here's the issue, everyone LIED to me, they hid this secret from me for years, no one ever bothered telling me I was a f*****g WEREWOLF or that my parents were the most important and wealthiest werewolves around to this day. NO ONE told me that I was 'fated' and that my life isn't what I thought, and now you show up, rip me away from the ONLY home I know just to tell me what? That you're my real Mother and some stupid Alpha wants me back and we can all pretend to be a big happy f*****g family? Yeah, I'll pass thanks."     May screeched the breaks and whipped the car onto the shoulder and threw it in park, she was shaking and struggling to keep control of her wolf.      "Listen here pup, you are our daughter whether you like it or not, you are destined to be the greatest Luna one you find your fated mate, this is our lives, this is how it's always been, nothing you or I can do will change that fact. Accept it"     Jamey sat back and pondered her options, if she got out now, she could run but she doubted she would get far, she didn't even know where she was anymore. They hadn't stopped since they left Los Angeles together. The only reason she left was because her adopted Mother  was dead, she was found murdered with her throat slashed up, a clear sign that Jamey wasn't safe but she didn't care about that, she just wanted to avenge her Mother and move back down to California. Her only right option was to keep going along until she could escape.     "Fine Mother, we will go back to your little pack, but I will tell you this now, I won't like it and I won't be that perfect daughter you strived for." Jamey snarled, her eyes flashing with anger.     May sighed and sat back and rubbed her temples, her anger was nearing the boiling point and Jamey didn't understand the importance of a Luna maintaining her composure especially around arrogant pups, even her own child.      "My dear, this isn't the life I ever wanted for you... you were meant to stay with us, find your own fated mate, you and him would become the perfect new King and Queen..."      Jamey's eyes widened, "Well... you had my future planned out, but did you know that I don't find men attractive, yes that's right. I'm a lesbian, I don't like men and I never have, not since... well it frankly it's none of your concern.."     "Jamey, every part of you is my business and my concern, you think me and your Father don't know? We have been watching you for years, it's not impossible to tell that our daughter isn't going to find her alpha male and we have accepted that, we just want you to find your fated mate and as most of us have found ours in Seattle, it's only natural that yours is there.." May scowled back at her daughter.      Jamey frowned and sat back, this all seemed unreal, none of this seemed true... how was that she was truly the daughter of the King of Werewolves and her Mother was currently scolding her, her ACTUAL Mother, Jamey simply glared out the window; so far, this wasn't going as planned.     May sighed again, her daughter was so stubborn just like her brother, she knew that Jamey would only get more upset if she knew about her twin brother, he was the Prince and therefore his status was much higher than Jamey's, even if she was the true Luna as the witch told May so many years ago.     "Jamey please, we are nearing the compound, it's time to meet your new home..."      Jamey snorted and looked ahead, all she saw was trees and a long winding road, "I see nothing Mother." She snarled as her canines grew again, she hissed at the pain and brought them back in.     May laughed softly, "My dear, your eyes are still young..."     Jamey sighed and focused closely, allowing her wolf eyes to come out, she then gasped and looked up in amazement as a huge castle came from nowhere it seemed, she could see the details down to the brick carving, her eyes could see further than even she believed.     "What... how.. Mom, how can I see?"     May smiled, her daughter finally called her Mom without rudeness or sarcasm, "My darling, you can see because you are allowing your wolf to finally come out and be free, let her roam and you will find that the world is much more beautiful."     Jamey blinked and the castle still stood, she was amazed she could see, then she felt it, a sudden sharp pain in her head, she groaned and gripped her head, that really hurt! May seemed unbothered by it but Jamey witnessed her shudder as if she was cold and her hand gripped the wheel tighter.     "I'm sorry daughter, we had the witches cast a spell, it's to stop those who aren't meant to be here from getting in. The pain adjusts over time but that's why we rarely leave, with such a large territory we really don't need to leave."     Jamey groaned again and closed her eyes, she wasn't even inside and she already wanted to run home. That's when she heard it again, this time even louder than before.     "MINE"     Jamey gasped as an intense wave of emotions hit her, something was stirring inside of her and it wanted out now, she rubbed her head, maybe she was crazy or maybe a coma! That would put an end to all this,      May looked at her daughter again and sighed, she knew this would be harder for Jamey because she wouldn't be used to the laws set in place by her beloved mate, to save their son from whatever danger was out there and for when the time arrived, keep Jamey safe as well, she was just concerned that her daughter wouldn't adapt to this new environment, especially when Jamey found out even with 15 acres of open forests, she would never be able to leave Washington, not if they wanted to stop the prophecy from coming true.     "Jamey... sweetie, listen, I know this will take some time to adjust and that's okay, I know it'll be easier if you give it a chance, who knows you may find that you like it here.."     Jamey groaned inwardly, "Right May, I'm sure I'll enjoy it, look just show me to my room and I'll stay out of everyone's way, I'm not really interested in a happy reunion right now."
