Ivy rushed back to the hollow, her daughters safety on the forefront of her mind. In front of her home, where her daughter lay asleep. Taking a deep breath, she fluttered about gathering greenery from around their home. Taking several trips, she brought the items indoors.
Laying them down on the earthen floor , she sat down. Grabbing up a long vine, she then began to work. She started by weaving ivy and long blades of grass into an oval shape, big enough for her daughter to lay. Then she began to weave spokes of grass going upward around the base. Then, meticulously, she wove Ivy and grass as she continued to weave the large basket.
It would be used as a bed and carrier for her daughter during their journey. Hours trickled by as she worked. When it was finished, she started weaving another item. This time, it was a circle she continued the same process until she had made a bag. The woven bag had a basket bottom and changed to close as a bag, and she built straps.
Her work was complete she stood and stretched her sore body. Setting the projects aside, she walked around their home in the hallow. Their home wasn’t grand, but it held so many memories, both good and bad. Walking around, she ingrained everything to her memory.
Their home had been crafted using elements of nature and nature magic. What wasn’t done using magic was done by her and her mates hands. Walking around her hand ran along, every surface until her gaze settled on her daughter. With a smile and a heavy heart, she approached her. The mattress dipped as Ivy sat beside Amaras sleeping form.
Reaching out, Ivy gently brushed the loose curls away from her face. She took on more than a few of the traits of her father. Amara had a head full of golden blond hair, unlike her father her hair was curly and awake she had the most striking blue eyes. “Amara, baby, can you wake up for me?” she asked as Willow stirred in the bed next to her.
“Mama?” Amara asked as she sat up groggily and wiped the sleep from her eyes. “is it time to .”
“We are going to go on an adventure, and I promise that once we get there, everything will change, and you will be safe.” Ivy vowed.
“An adventure? N.now?” Willow asked as she woke up and looked to her elder sister.
“I’ve spoken with ma we will traveling and taking her to the Moon Guardian pack. My friend Luna Rosalie Wolfe has granted us refuge among their pack and the possibility of refuge for us all. I just have to hold court with her sons.”
“sons?” Asked Willow.
“Yes her mate died years ago leaving the Alpha position to his eldest. Right now, all three sons are acting as pack Alpha, and they have yet to find their Luna. That is why their mother is still in position.” Ivy said. “have you decided what you're going to do? You have a lot to consider.” She asked as she looked down at her sisters growing belly.
“I’m going to the realm with short trips out. If they allow more of us to seek solace there, let me know, and I’ll come.” Vowed Willow. It was then when Amara climbed onto her mothers lap.
“Why are we going, Mama?” Asked Amara.
“Remember how there are werewolves that we live in harmony with?”
“Yes.” Amara whispered as she leaned into her mother’s embrace
“Well there are some in which have turned their back onto their true nature and have become rogues. These rogues have been attacking and killing our kind. For years , the attacks have been growing, and it’s putting us at great risk.”
“Are we going to be okay?” Asked Amara
“I will do everything to keep you safe. That is why we are going on an adventure. We will be going to my friends' pack and we will be able to live there without fear of the rogues.”
“How do you know if wolfie is a friend?” Asked Amara.
“A Rogue has red eyes, and they smell vile.” Willow answered.
“Smell?” Amara said as she wrinkled up her little nose.
“Yes baby. Rogues smell like death and sewage.”
“yucky.’ Was the reply as Amara’s body shuddered at the thought. “We should never show ourselves to rogues”
“I promise.”
“Good. Now, why don’t you help me pack. We are only carrying our treasures, the rest we can make anew.” Ivy said. Amara tiredly scrambled off her mothers lap to help. Together, they worked together to pack their treasures.
Grabbing a large leaf, she grabbed her necklace and ring given to her by her mate and folded it up, and used twine to make a parcel. Placing it in the bag, she grabbed the collection of handmade books. Those books would be used later to teach Amara, as her gifts developed, they had been written by both her and her daughter’s father. Lastly, she collected and delicately placed a framed photograph into the handmade bag. The photograph was the last photograph they had of them as a family.
Amara grabbed a few of her prized trinkets. Her prized wood carved animal figures made by her father . A doll her mother had made for her. Then Amara walked around, grabbing the Fae crystals. Carefully, she wrapped them except the doll and placed them in the bag. Hugging the doll to her, she stood next to her mother.
With the packing complete, Ivy grabbed a long reed of grass and used magic, wove the reed through the bag, closing it, and then she sealed it with a spell. It would only open using Fae magic by herself or little Amara. Then, setting the bag off to the side, Afterward, Ivy laid Amara in the basket carrier, and Willow helped her to position it. Once it was secured, Ivy looked to her younger sister. Picking up the homemade bag, she secured it as well.
“let us pray.” Willow said.
“Yes lets.” Ivy agreed.
“Gaia, please guide our travels. Protect us from evil as we live in your kind embrace. I do this for my daughter. She is special as you well know. Protect my sister Willow and her unborn child. Aine and Isis watch over and protect Amara. If anything happens to me, make sure she is safe and found.” Ivy prayed.
“We pray that we will soon be reunited.” Willow added. Then, the sisters pulled each other into a tight embrace. They stood like that for several minutes.
Pulling away, Ivy said. “Why don’t you portal here , then I will head out with Amara.” Willow nodded, and together, they summoned a portal to the Fae realm. After one last look at her sisters and niece, Willow reluctantly went through the portal.
Once the portal closed, Ivy took one last time to walk around her home, cherishing all the memories. Exiting the home, she walked around the hollow she had called home and set out under the cloak of darkness.
