THE FINAL RIDDLE 8

207 Words
The chamber shook as the book revealed its last riddle “What is stronger than fear, greater than death, and breaks every curse when shared?” Claire’s hands trembled. Daniel’s reflection flickered in the shards, his voice faint but steady. “It’s not memory… it’s not story… it’s something deeper.”She thought of why she had come not out of arrogance, but loyalty. She thought of Daniel’s reckless curiosity, and how it had led him here. And she realized the answer wasn’t about the house at all. It was about them. Together, they whispered “Love.”The book blazed with light, brighter than the cruel woman’s lantern. The phantoms shrieked, dissolving into smoke. The shelves collapsed, the jars shattered, and the house itself roared in fury. The cruel woman staggered, her smile breaking into a scream. “No! Love cannot exist here! This is a house of endings!” But Claire held the book high, its pages burning with truth. “Then let this be the ending you never wrote.”The abyss split open, light pouring through. Daniel reached out from the shadows, and Claire grasped his hand. For the first time, the house recoiled, its curse breaking under the weight of their bond.
