Olivia Steels POV
"Hurry up Liv, dinners ready and I'm f*****g starving," Colton groaned as I blow dried my hair.
"Do you want my hair to be wet or not," I said getting annoyed with his whining.
"No one cares," he complained.
"Ugh fine you i***t, I'm coming. You should have just gone without me."
"Jason said I can't come down till your ass is with me. Now get going I'm hungry."
I rolled my eyes letting my damp hair fall down my back as I stood up and followed Colton out of the room.
"Geez you act like your've been starved for days, when I'm sure I saw you eating an hour ago."
"One doughnut Liv. Now seriously what's that going to do to my stomach? Tickle it?"
"Your so dramatic," I said with a laugh as Colton opened the doors to the dinning hall.
My laugh echoed in the quiet room causing me to cease my laughter immediately.
The only sounds heard was the voices of my brother and Alpha Dimitri as they talked quietly to each other.
The same alluring smell filtered through my senses causing me to sigh in content.
My eyes immediately found his only to roll them when his were glaring at mine.
Come on, what the hell did I do to get this kind of reaction out of the person who was supposed to love and adore me?
I followed Colton in and took the seat next to him. I was glad since I sat across from Kade whole rolled his eyes at me when I winked at him.
"Nice of you to finally join us for dinner Olivia," my brother said with a shake of his head.
I smiled sheepishly before I let my eyes take in the food on the table.
"I didn't realise how hungry I am before now," I whispered to Colton who was already digging into his meal.
He grunted before shoving his face with steak causing me to chuckle.
Through my entire meal I could feel him staring, which irritated the hell out of me since I felt uncomfortable with him watching me so intently.
I looked up and met his gaze straight on, raising a brow in question.
He only stared for a bit longer before narrowing his gaze at me and then deciding to eat his food.
Thank f*****g goodness.
"So Liv, did you explore any of the grounds? Find anything interesting?"
I shot my brother a pointed look as he chuckled while he leaned back in his chair with his arms crossed.
I knew he was seeing if I had found my mate yet.
"Well if you must know, I haven't really done anything. I just stayed in my room, cause I'm all jet lagged and whatnot so I need my beauty rest," I said with a shrug.
Kade chuckled shaking his head before Colton choked on his food. He wiped his mouth and looked at me with disbelief.
"The drive here was 4hrs Liv, and plus we weren't on a plane. Jet lagged my ass ," he said with a snort.
"Always with the dramatics aren't ya Liv. You hang out with Jake way too much." Jason said with an eye roll.
"Who's Jake?"
We all looked at Damon when he spoke considering it's the first time the snob had said anything.
Jason looked at him before he rubbed his chin in thought as he watched the man.
Damon met his gaze head on. If it were someone else it would be seen as disrespectful, but considering Damon is Alpha Born he was still an equal with Jason and Dimitri.
"Jake's a family friend."
"I see."
Damon looked at me and narrowed his gaze before he stood up and walked out without another word.
Kade chuckled at his best friends retreat before looking at me with a smirk.
When he noticed my stare he wiggles his brows before standing up.
"If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna take my leave. Enjoy your night here Alphas, Beta and Olivia," he said with a grin.
I winked at him and laughed when he shook his head in amusement and walked out.
"Well I'm gonna go too," I said as I stood up and was about to leave.
"Olivia," Jason said as he cleared his throat.
I looked at him as he shot a pointed look at me and discreetly gestured to Alpha Dimitri.
Oh I forgot.
"Alpha Dimitri, thank you for dinner. I am feeling a bit exhausted so I will take my leave."
He smiled and nodded in approval.
I turned on my heel and walked out, happy that I get to head to bed.
"Who's Jake?"
I jumped in fright before my eyes met the dark eyes of none other than Damon Romano.
"Bloody hell, you can't just sneak up on people like that," I said calming my erratic heart.
He stood at the top of the stairs before slowly descending.
"You didn't answer my question."
I rolled my eyes before walking towards the stairs. When I went to walk past him I stopped.
"Like Jason said, he's a family friend."
I brushed his shoulder with mine before continuing up the stairs. I didn't get far though because Damon's hand shot out as he took a hold of my wrist.
I closed my eyes and inhaled when the sparks coursed through me. When I looked back at Damon his expression was neutral as if our skin touching had no effect to him.
"That doesn't give me much enough information Olivia. Who is he to you?" he demanded.
"Is it really hard to understand what a 'family friend' is? Let me break this down to you since your not quite understanding. A family friend is someone that is friends with your family. The end. Now let go," I said with annoyance as I pulled my wrist out of his grasp.
"Do not mock me Olivia," he growled out.
I sighed before I turned around fully to face him. Even with me two steps up from him, he was still a tad bit taller.
"Listen Damon. If you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer. No matter how many times someone says there's no such thing as a stupid question. There is. They only say that to make you feel good about yourself for being stupid."
"What the f**k are you on about?"
I opened my mouth to speak before he interrupted me again.
"You know what, don't bother. Your probably just going to confuse yourself."
"Rude!" I said offended.
He smirked before shaking his head and descending the rest of the stairs.
"Damon."
When he got to the bottom he turned around to look at me.
"Are you going to accept me as your mate?" I asked hesitantly.
He opened his mouth to say something before clearing his throat. He almost looked torn as he stared at me. Conflicting emotions passing his features.
"Goodnight Olivia."
With that said he walked away and left.
I frowned watching the now empty space he once vacated.
Somethings stopping him from embracing the mate bond. I turned on my heel and walked up the rest of the stairs to my room.
Whats holding him back from accepting me as his mate.
What the f**k could it be...
