Truth

1090 Words
Hephizbah’s POV I felt relieved a bit that he didn’t ask me about those secret fantasies—whether they were true or not but why would he ask me that lame question? I rolled my eyes. Maybe he was curious… or jealous of Zed. But I wasn’t going to answer that. I picked up the red wine, wanting to pour it into my rubber cup, but a hand stopped me. Zed. I tried to remove his hand, but he shook his head. “No, I need you to answer those questions, my girlfriend,” he said, taking the red wine and the cup from me. At this time, I was speechless, not knowing what to reply. I had never admired him, not even in my dreams. It was a hard question to answer. “Hands, Newton… and how he handles the long brown hockey stick,” I finally said, bowing my head. “Oh yeah, I know I'm so perfect with my hands on that hockey stick.” Zed smiled from chin to chin. He knew it was all a lie—I never admired his hockey stick but Newton’s. “False,” the detector said out loud. “She’s lying!” Frank pointed at me, laughing so hard, clutching his stomach. “I knew it,” Newton finally spoke up. “It was all lies. She never admired him for once.” His voice was loud and mean. “It’s all a game.” “Not true,” I responded sharply. “It’s true that I don’t admire his hand as the sexiest part of his body…” I paused while Zed looked at me. I really didn’t want to hurt his ego in front of everyone, even though I didn’t have feelings for him. “Okay, fine. I will speak up. His sexy muscular amber,” I snapped, looking at the detector to confirm my answer. “True,” it echoed. Everyone glanced at each other, and I realized the detector only listened to someone’s heartbeat—not the mind. “That’s right, Hephizbah. He has a good, built muscular body,” Frank said. “Next round,” he added as I spinned the can around. This time, it was Jason to Zed. “Truth or Dare?” he asked. “Truth,” Zed answered. “What about her makes your heart race faster?” He looked at me, adjusting his butt on the floor, while Newton boiled in anger, watching us closely. “The way she blushes whenever I try to ki—” I hit him on the head, signaling him not to say another word. “What?” he said slowly. “When she tries to shut me up,” he finally finished. Kate chuckled, looking at us. “Hephzibah, that’s so rude of you to your lover,” she said, sipping her coffee. “Are you two really in love with each other? Because it sounds like hate from both sides,” she scoffed. I hated her voice—it irritated my skin. “It’s called flirting, girl. Our love language too,” I replied sharply. “Okay, okay, we’ll take the last one before we head back to our base,” Frank said, sensing the game might cause a fight if it went on. “And this time, it will come directly to the latest university couple here.” He held the spin cup tightly. “What’s her deepest secret that she does not want the campus to know?” he asked Zed. But Kate stood up. “I know a deep secret that I think everybody would like to hear,” she said, rubbing her hands together as they turned in her direction. I panicked, my heartbeat racing faster than an antelope’s. I hope she doesn’t tell anyone I’m the real ICEQUEEN17. My mind beat faster. Oh, no. My dirty rush on my stepbrother. I couldn’t breathe well. All eyes were on her except me and Newton, who were looking at each other. “Well, the truth about Hephizbah that no one knows is that…” she began. “She snores in her sleep and has bad breath at night,” Zed cut in sharply. Everyone burst into loud laughter. “What?” Rita said, laughing even harder. “She’s".. Kate continued, but no one listened. They were too busy laughing. “How do you know about that?” one of them asked, still smiling. “Have you two slept together?” “No... but I have proof about it, and it doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve had something intimate.” He pulled out his phone, displaying a video where I was snoring in the basement after hockey practice. A smile curled on my face. Even though it was harassing, at least it made everyone ignore Kate. “Oh my gosh…” I snapped, trying to hold back my laughter at the funny video. “Delete it, stronghead,” I said. “Give me the phone, Zed.” I began to drag the phone from his hand, but he played with it. Everyone watching us laughed so hard—then he suddenly moved his lips onto mine with a sharp kiss. I was stunned, my hands still in the air. “Come on, get the phone if you can,” he said. His smile was beautiful and attractive. I fumed, still trying to grab the phone, but he shifted it to his left hand and kissed my forehead gently. “Woooo,” Jason said. “You two need to get some privacy.” I quickly moved away from him while Zed looked at me. “They’re cute, and there’s no need to rub it in everyone’s faces,” Frank said. Newton shook his head, drank his coffee, and set the cup on the floor. “We should do more dares before we leave,” Kate interrupted, trying to grab everyone’s attention. “Why don’t we spice things up one more time before we depart?” She quickly moved to Newton, who had been calm for a long time. She placed a chocolate bite on her lips and bent down to Newton as their lips closed in. So tense—I felt irritation burn my skin as I watched them kissing hard. “Woww,” Rita said, cheering them up. “Ten-second kiss, impressive,” Frank said, spinning the can. “Hephizbah and Zed, can you two beat the perfect couple with heated romance?” he asked. I was speechless… and turned to Zed.
