Chapter 9 The Sacrifice

Elena plunged in the darkness, but this time , there was no fear . No struggle
She had chosen this.
The Abyss coiled around her , its whispers turning into screams , furious and desperate.It did not want her sacrifice-it wanted to consume , to devour .But Elena wan no longer afraid .She reached deep into herself,past fear,past pain ,past everything that tied her to the mortal world .
She called his name .
“Umbra”.
A light -small .fragile -bloomed within the void .It pulsed with her heartbeat , pushing back the shadows .
Then suddenly, hands - strong ,cold ,familiar -grasped her shoulders.
“Elena”.
Umbra’s voice shattered the Abyss’s grip .His form was more solid than before , his golden eyes burning with something fierce , something human . But there was desperation in his expression.
“Why did you do this ?”.
Elena smiled, her vision blurring as the void pressed against her soul .”Because you were worth it “.
A terrible sound cracked through the Abyss -like the breaking of reality itself.The void writhed in fury , its shadows splintering into nothingness.
Elena felt herself slipping away , her essence unraveling.
But then-warmth .
A rush of energy surged through her , pulling her back ,rebuilding her from the inside out .
Umbra was holding her .
His form burned with light , no longer just shadows but something new , something reborn .He was no longer bound to the Abyss .
Because she had freed him .
“Elena”he whispered, pressing his forehead against her ,”You gave yourself to me .Now, let me give myself for you “.
And with those words , Umbra gave back what she had lost.
Light exploded around them .The Abyss howled one last time -
