"Hello John, this is Kade my friend, and Kade this is John my ex-husband," Grace said, introducing one man to the other. The both men stared each other down for the longest time before John stretched his hand out to Kade in greeting.
Kade made to ignore the outstretched palm but Grace nudged him with her elbow, if he did not honor John's handshake, the older man would take it as an insult and more tension would ensue.
She watched as Kade shook the man's fingers, crushing the man's pale hands in his strong grip. She watched pain lines stretch across John's face as she saw his hand change color from pale to red in a matter of seconds.
