I climbed onto the bus which was only half full about an hour later after checking my backpack underneath and found an empty and mostly clean seat about halfway along the bus next to the window on the curb side. I pulled up the hood on my dark blue jean jacket, placed my satchel in my lap and closed my eyes and tried to sleep. A storm rolled in as my eyes closed and began to follow the bus down the mountain changing from rain to snow. I love it when it rains it feels so soothing. The snow cleanses the land in a nice white blanket. I fall into a deep sleep as the bus takes me closer to my new life.
HIS VIEW- Last night
"What a curious little human. Her face. Her hair, she could almost pass for one of us don't you think brother?" commented the tall reddish brown short haired young (looking) man with rippling muscles that were testing the stitching of his vest as he sat high in a tree overlooking the park unseen at least to humans that is. Stepping out of a thick patch of fog stood a tall young (looking) man with jet black shoulder length hair, pale skin and violent violet eyes he looked at the young human girl who was walking between the trees in a seemly aimless way. The man with the black hair was wearing all black and stood in his long coat scratching his chin and addressed his brother "I don't know, she's a bit to covered up to tell". The brother in the tree laughed "well it's your fault you know, you make the air too cold brother " he said as he kept laughing jumping down from the tree and landing a few feet from his brother. "Tialoc go away" said the black hair man. "Ah come on Indra, why the doom and gloom" teased Tlaloc of his brother. Both brothers are sons of Gaia otherwise known as Earth. That's right the plant is a living sentient entity whose "Son's" are elementals/ fey/ demi-gods depends on your point of view.
"Indra you know I can't go away as we need to talk" commented Tialoc becoming more serious. "What is it now" replied Indra impatient. "Well as you know mother is quiet annoyed with the humans and their continuing destructive behaviour “signed Tialoc. Indra half laughed half grunted "so what's new?". "Well, the humans can't seem to get the message to change their ways" stated Tialoc. "What the floods, the major storm fronts of snow, the droughts, electrical storms plunging whole cities into darkness, the melting ice caps and raising sea levels and temperatures the uncontrollable massive fire's, by the way your welcome, how much more work do I have to do? to get their attenuation and make them change their ways" Indra stated in frustration. "Ah, mum's not too happy about that fire in that area what do the humans call it ..... oh, the sss I think, you went to far and burnt way too much" Tialoc says while looking at the ground. "Well if the humans learnt to work together then it wouldn't have gotten so big, they could have put the fire out, there was nothing stopping them" sulked Indra. "Anyway, Morbus released his diamones of plague onto the human's, his latest plague has wiped out what something like what 2% of the world population of human's and their so-called vaccine is going to kill another 5% over the next 5 years if what Morbus is saying is to be believed that is of course" stated Indra. "Well you know how stupid and selfish humans are right?" Tialoc half laughed.
The brothers were silent for a while watching the human girl walking through the park with dried tears on her face struggling with her two bags while trying to stay awake. "What more does Gaia want us to do?" requested Indra. "Gaia is done with them. She wants them reduced to a more reasonable population. Humans have become a plague upon her back instead of guardians and caretakers. Why did we ever let the fey bring them here." Tialoc sighed. "We should have insisted that they took the humans with them when they left to their new world. I guess they realized just how toxic the human are and no longer wanted anything to do with them. And those that remain live in hiding out of fear of their once allies. It appears that we are stuck in someone else's sad story. I am so tired of cleaning up this mess" complained Indra. The brothers were thoughtful for a moment. "Do we need to reduce the numbers or eradicate them completely?" questioned Indra. "Gaia says that if we can find any humans that are worthy then they can stay, but there are just too many of them! Who has the time to sort through them all!" complained Tialoc. Indra thought deeply on these words replying, "brother I think I have an idea, but we will need the help of all our brothers and sisters and servants and the remaining fey". "Do tell my brother".
They worked together to form a plan. For every human tested that passed 10 humans of their choosing would be saved and for every human who failed 100,000 humans living around them would die. Now all they had to do was agree to what the test should be. They both looked upon the young girl who was starting to leave the park. They looked at each other and nodded, she would be their first test subject.
Later in the early dawn they found her again going down an alleyway behind some store fronts. They watched as the girl bent down to open a box. Tialoc looked over the girls shoulder into the box. "People are so wasteful. There is nothing wrong with that fruit" stated Tialoc in indignation. The girl pulled out a knife and started to cut out the bad bits and eat the rest. She did look happy as she ate. Indra thought it strange, most people don't eat what others have thrown out will except in the poorest of places that is. From what Indra had seen of this town it was not that poor, there were no people sleeping out in the streets. There were no broken and abandoned buildings. No domestic animals roaming the streets and no sign of animals that the humans would consider vermin. Strange. This girl was strange. Indra addressed his brother "excuse me brother I have some matters to attend to, some others to recruit to this purpose and to reassign some of my duties. But this one does seem promising. She is not wasteful of Gaia's bounty which is a start at least." "Go brother I will watch this little one. I already have some of my people in the area just look for them and they will tell you where I am" replied Tialoc.
A few hours later Tialoc watched with amusement as the girl went into a bank. Tialoc let his senses relax as he viewed the girl, her aurora was a royal blue with specks of grey but swirls of black and a dull red, interesting he thought. Wow what just happened he thought as Tialoc jumped back as a major swirl of dull red enveloped the girl. What had gotten her so angry he wondered. Not that you could tell by looking at her as the girl kept the same expression on her face. Dam what did I just miss wondered Tialoc as he hadn't been paying any attention to what the humans had been saying. Tialoc tried looking over the girl’s shoulder to see if he could figure it out but all he could make out was a name at the top of the little book that the women passed between them which had a bunch of different numbers on it. Tialoc gave up he never could understand how money worked as it was just too weird. Tialoc moved back and decided to just follow the girl for now.
Tialoc had followed the girl to a new building where larger vehicles pulled in and people would get on and off after showing the man at the front of the vehicle a piece of paper. He had watched the girl hand over what he thought was money and getting a piece of paper the same as others and talking to an older gentleman. Tialoc was so bored that he was happy to see his brother finally return. "I have an idea brother,” said Indra. "Please do tell" replied Tialoc. "Well how about the next time that girl falls asleep we go into her mind and see if we can find out what type of person she is" suggested Indra. "Well if I read her name correctly her name is Leizi Byrne and when I was reading her aurora earlier all I got was she is up for adventure and either has depression or a low self-esteem as is really angry with someone and has been for a while" informed Tialoc. "Leizi, Leizi as in the goddess of lightening" questioned Indra looking confused as he looks over the girl "but she's not one of mine, I'm sure about that". Tialoc laughs at his brother "humans have taken to naming their children after gods and goddess, haha it doesn't mean anything. Really bro don't you ever listen to humans talk." Indra shakes his head "why would I ever do that?". The brothers follow Leizi onto the bus Indra sat behind her and Tialoc in front of her.
