Looking for the Eclipse

Chapter 2

Alex P.O.V.:

" Alpha, Alpha Lucas is on the phone and wants to talk to you. He says you blocked him from mindlink." an omega says breaking me from my thoughts.

" Tell him I will call him back"

I am pretty sure I already know what my father wants to talk about and that is rogue alpha Max...

There have been sightings of some of his rogue followers in the human city and that is very suspicious.

There was no news about him the for the last decade and suddenly there has been talk some of his people have been seen in the city.

I have not heard of this from my father, himself, so far but other from other packs.

My father has been leaving in the city for the last 10 years. Everyone else thought he just could not stay in the pack any more after my mother, his mate, died in the rogue attack and my alpha training was done but I knew the truth. He was still chasing that murderer and he would never stop until that rogue was dead.

I admired, loved and hated my father for it, all at the same time. I wanted revenge for my mother's death, too, but it made me lose my father as well in a sense.

I still remember everything...

20 years ago:

" Alex where do you think you are going ?? I told you to stay in bed!" my mum said, standing in front of me as soon as I opened the door.

" I just wanted to play with Nefeli! Only for a little while...pleaseeee" I asked, looking at my mother expetantly.

" No can do, baby boy! She is asleep already anyway..unlike you!" she said and, out of nowhere, Nefeli rushed through the door and started jumping on my bed.

Her mother, Luna Iokaste, came rushing after her.

" I am so sorry, I can seem to get her to bed... again!"she said exasperated.

" I know exactly what you are talking about Luna... same here!!" Mum said.

" That's it! I am calling your fathers to deal with the both you, little trouble makers!" Luna said and mindlinked them both.

After a couple of minutes they both appeared, alpha Caspian and his beta, my father, Lucas.

" What seems to be the problem here? " alpha Caspian said amused.

" They are both refusing to go to bed Alpha" mum said, pointing at me and Nefeli, who were standing side by side.

" And?" my father said and both my mother and Luna looked at him irritated. I guess they expected some support that never came.

" Well, before I answer your " and?" question you answer mine" Luna said, looked at my father amused and continued " Did you both finish work?".

" Yes, my love" alpha Caspian said with a smile.

"Did you eat dinner?" Luna asked.

" Yes, Luna" my father answered respectfully.

" Excellent! Then I am taking your wife for a run AND you are both babysitting. Enjoy!" Luna said and both her and my mother left laughing.

" Great job, Lucas" Alpha Caspian said sarcastically and started clapping.

Me and Nefeli attacked both of them with the pillows, as usual ecstatic with how things turned out, and we all started laughing...

That was the last time we were all happy and together.

All six of us... Alpha Caspian Luna Iokaste and their daughter Nefeli, my father Lucas, my mother Catherine and me .

Everything changed that same night and our world was destroyed by rogue alpha Max.

He took our pack in a rogue attack that killed the whole alpha family and my mother. Me and my father have never been the same ever since.

After the attack, my father convinced the other packs to help us take back what was ours, but even when that was done, my father was emotionally destroyed. The loss of his mate and the loss of his best friends left him a wreck. After we won the fight and took back the pack, he wanted to leave because he could not stay surrounded by memories of our previous life and his mate.He stayed, however, for me and to honour his former alpha and get the pack where it needs to be. He ageed to become alpha on the condition that once I was ready to take over he would be given permission to leave without being considered a rogue.

When the time came, I knew I could force him to stay but I could not bring myself to do that. I gave him permission hoping that he would change his mind after a while and come back. But 10 years have passed since I took over and he left and he is still in the city chasing him. I cant help but feel pride and admiration for him but sadness, as well, over the loss of my father, too. I was 16 when he left and 26 at the moment. He was always adamant not to include me in this , to make sure the pack and I are safe and secluded.

I get his reasons regarding the pack's safety but what about me?! I lost everything that night too!

My mother , my alpha, my luna and Nefeli! Their loss shaped me... I am an alpha because of that, and that is something many may think as blessing out of a tragedy. But it is not... it is a duty and at times a burden especially when you are doing it alone... I sometimes wander if our parents' jokes about me and Nefeli, when we were little, were true. They use to call us " little mates" because were always together and protective of each other. Maybe that is why I am still mateless at my age. Maybe Nefeli was my mate and I lost her before I even had the chance to claim her...

Well it is what it is. All I know is that this time I am getting involved in my father's plan whether he likes it or not.

"Jackson come to my office!" I mind link my beta. He is the only one I fully trust.

When Jackson comes inside he can, already, tell that I am planning something.

" Well, spill the beans Alpha. What's up?" he asks me "Your mind has been working overdrive the past few days" .

" I am going to meet my father in the city. You are in charge of everything while I am gone and make sure nobody in the pack knows where I went. Tell them I went for a trip to another pack to look for a mate. I don't think I need to elaborate on what I am going to my father for, do i?" I ask and I look at him.

" No, you don't Alex... I knew this time would come. Go get the bastard and make sure you come back to us, Alpha" he tells me, supporting me ,as always, like a beta but also a friend.

"Well that's the plan I am leaving in an hour" I tell him and start preparing.

Alpha Lucas P.O.V:

What the hell is he doing that he can't come on the damn phone?!

All these years he wants to be included and when I finally want him to, he can't come on the freaking phone and blocks me in mindlink. I have been trying to reach him all day and he is nowhere.I will try him one last time and that is it.

The smell hits me before I hear the door and I open it already furious!

"Alex! What the hell are you doing here???" I ask him fuming. I wanted to inform him but not having him risk his life!

"Nice to see you too, father." he says and lets himself in.
