CHAPTER XXV OF FACELESS MEN
“I need your help.” Ryazan begged, looking into the eyes of a faceless man. “I want to know more about you, and especially, what you do.”
“It is only when you become a faceless man shall you understand fully.”
“Why is that?”
“You still have a face, which mean your vision to the world is obscured. It is only when you take off that mask of a face, and become faceless –one with us, only then shall you see the world differently.”
Another faceless creature, more fearsome than the first, emerged in the form of birds from the sky and struck down the faceless man speaking to Ryazan.
Turning to Ryazan, the fearsome creature spoke but his mouth never moved. “What is it you most desire?” Roared the ungodly voice inside his head.
