A knock at the door

1520 Words
Everyone literally passed out right after dinner. I was too tired to even get a shower. I curled up on my bed right after changing into a white comfy oversized tee with grey booty shorts. Before I knew it, I feel into a deep slumber until a few minutes ago. My throat was very dry and I felt it in my sleep so that woke me. The house is weirdly quiet, not even the twins are up yet. Perhaps they all went out while I slept. I open the fridge then grab a bottle of water right away. Without wasting time, I open the bottle and down the 250mls of water in one gulp. Before closing the fridge, I diligently scan the fridge. All we have is water and left overs from last night. I am starving, the pizza from last night was great but I do not want to have leftover pizza for breakfast. Mom mentioned we shall go grocery shopping this afternoon, I hope we do so in the next hour. I finally close the fridge before I start walking back up to my room. I should shower and be ready for the errands we are about to do. Half way through the stairs, I hear a knock on the main door. “Who could that be this early in the morning?” I hear mom’s voice behind me which makes me jump. “Mom!!” I hold my chest hoping my fast-beating heart slows down back to normal. “Good morning sweetie, sorry I startled you.” She moves closer and kisses me on the cheek. “Good morning.” I respond then follow her down the stairs. “Please get ready to leave in ten minutes.” She says while walking towards the door. “Are we going just the two of us?” I ask. “Looks like it, your father is exhausted and your brothers do not look like they want to get out of bed yet. Go get ready I will see who is at the door.” She chases me away. “Alright alright I am going.” “Hello….” I hear mom speaking to whoever is at the door. I get back up the stairs, I need to shower and change quickly.                             *********** “Who was at the door?” I ask when I find her in the kitchen. She turns around and looks at me very attentively, “Have you showered?” she asks with a raised eyebrow. “Yes mom, I took a five minutes shower. Brushed my teeth for a minute, used another to apply lotion on my body then used the rest to dress up.” I explain. “You said ten minutes.” When mom says ten minutes, be ready in ten minutes or get left behind. “Convincing enough.” She nods her head side to side. “So, who was at the door?” I repeat my unanswered question. “Oh, that was one of our new neighbors.” She smiles, “They brought us a fruit basket, a welcoming gift. The lady came with her son, you two should meet. He might be your age or slightly older.” “Okay.” Yeah, I doubt you wanna know about the neighbor crawling up into my room through my window. “Let’s get going before everyone starts starving in this house.” She says before grabbing her purse. “Can I drive?” I ask mom as we walk towards the open garage. She stops on her tracks and turns to face me. “Why? You do not have a driver’s license and neither are your skills perfect.” Oh wow, mom has no clue I can drive perfectly. Dad started teaching me how to drive since I was 14 years old. She is right about one thing I have no license because mom does not want me to drive. But I will get it soon. “Practice, will prefect my skills.” I give her a bright smile. “Nope.” She turns around then enters her red Hyundai Santa fe. “Fine, I will just let my mother driver me around all the time.” I tease.                             ************** “Honey the trolleys are now full and heavy, grab a basket and get the things you need for yourself. I will queue up.” She suggests. “Sure.” I push my trolley towards the till then grab an empty basket. Mom and I have been shopping for over an hour. We were both glad to find this supermarket that has everything we need for home. We have bought enough groceries for a month, now I need to pick the things I need. I need to stock up on tampons, the ones I have left will not last me more than two days when my period starts. My shower gel and shampoo are completely finished, my lotion and body mists are good for another month or so. When I find the section with tampons, pantyliners and pads, I pause to scan what they have while looking for the brand I prefer. “Are they not all the same?” I hear a familiar voice. I turn around and find my crawling through the window neighbor. How does he just happen to be here? “Are you following me?” I ask. He chuckles, “You wish.” He scoffs. Rude! “This supermarket is close to our neighborhood and I came to grab something.” He says which makes me roll my eyes then turn around. Ignoring him might make him go away, or not? “Cute voice you have.” He says. “What!” I stop to look at his face. “Heard you singing.” He says with a smirk. “When?” “When you were taking a shower.” “p*****t!!!” I whisper shout. How did he hear me singing unless he was in my room or bathroom? “What? I get called a p*****t for appreciating your voice?” “No, for sneaking up into my room while I was in the shower.” I whisper shout again. I do not want anyone listening to this conversation especially my mom. “I was not in your room.” He gets defensive. “Yes you were otherwise how did you hear me singing?” “I…….I…. well I was not inside your room but by the window when I heard yo..” “You should stop that!” I tell him to his face with my finger raised close to his face. “One day you will find one of my parents or my brothers. Worse if I am not dressed….” “That would be something.” He smirks. What the actually…… you know what, I do not have time for this. I grab a box of tampons and walk away.                             ****************** Yesterday a new family moved into the house next door to ours. Their things arrived two days or so back before they actually moved. I was shotting some hoops with the guys when the family arrived. I did not get a good look at the girl because I was distracted but later in the afternoon, I kept catching her staring through her window into mine. I was gonna wait a few days to meet her or until my mother dragged me to their house this morning but failed to wait until then. I crawled through her window last night just as she finished setting up. Impressive I must say, blond long hair, blue eyes, pretty face, 5.5ft tall and great banging body. Oh and her voice is amazing, especially when she sings. This morning I got to hear her sing right after I met her mother whom she resembles so much except her mother is taller than she is but shorter than me. And here we are in the supper market. Mom asked me to get a few things for home and here she is deciding which girly things to get. “I was not in your room.” “Yes you were otherwise how did you hear me singing?” she asks with determination of finding out how I heard her singing. “I…….I…. well I was not inside your room but by the window when I heard yo..” I try to explain before I get cut off. “You should stop that!” she speaks with her finger raised in my face. “One day you will find one of my parents or my brothers. Worse if I am not dressed….” The moment she says this my mind starts to wonder what is hidden behind all those clothes. “That would be something.” A smirk grows on my face. Oh no, wrong words. She just scoffs, grabs a box of something then walks away. Should I go after her? I mean she is cute and it would be nice to get to know her but right now I need to get my mother the things she asked for.
