Logan POV
“What was that all about?” Cil asked as we finally joined them.
“Your friend has been breaking hearts wherever he goes. Mel expected that he'd make her a princess one day.” Grace told him.
“I rarely defend my brother’s honor but this is kinda your fault!” Carla told her with a smile.
“How can it be my fault? 24 hours ago I didn’t even know your brother existed!” she replied and sat on the empty seat next to her mother while I went to grab us some food and coffees.
When I came back, I’ve heard Lana asking Grace:
“How are you dealing with all of this?”
“I’m fine, mom. A bit confused and it will take some time for things to settle down. But I kinda knew there was something off with me. I have to admit, in my wildest dreams, I didn’t expect something like this.”
“What about Logan and you? Anya told me about last night. You don’t have to stay in his apartment, you know. Dad and I are staying in the house pack for a few more days, you can stay with us!”
My heart sunk. This is a moment of truth. If there’s anyone who’ll Grace be honest with, it’s her parents.
“Thank you, mom.”
She didn’t change her mind. I am losing her. What am I suppo…
“But, I’ll stay with Logan. Last night, some things simply got out of my mouth wrong. Logan thought that I was rejecting him. At that moment I didn’t even know what the thought of leaving him could do to him.. Anyway, we’ve talked a lot and I think we're gonna be fine. And..”
She smiled shyly and through the messy curls of her hair, I saw her cheeks turn soft pink.
“I think I really, really like him, mom.”
My mood shifted from hopeless to estetic in a second.
“Ok, hon.” Lana replied.
I’ve approached them and put our coffees and food on the table. When Grace saw how hard I was grinning, she must have realized I heard her conversation with her mom so she blushed even harder. I kissed her temple and she snapped:
“Stop being cocky. It’s annoying.” Then she turned to her parents: “Where are you two going in a few days?”
Morrison answered: “Nowhere. We’re just moving back home. Finally.” he must have seen Grace’s confused look so he explained: “The house you were born in. Five minutes walk from here. We’ll show you later where it is, ok?”
After we finished eating, we stayed in the dining room. Everyone else left, they just wanted to see Grace, to see if the rumors were thought so we’ve had some privacy here. We were simply catching up, telling stories, planning what places within the territory we should show to Grace etc.
At one point, my mom asked Grace:
“Honey, last night you heard Logan and me talking while you were in your room. Did something like that happen ever before? Our hearing is much better than humans, but I’ve never seen a Werewolf who could hear so well.”
“Like I said last night, I’ve only heard Logan’s voice. I really thought he was right in front of the door. I realized he was talking to you only when I reached the ground floor.”
“And you too haven’t mated?” Carla asked.
Grace wasn’t comfortable with this question so I’ve answered:
“No!” I’ve turned to Grace. “Marking is the final, and most important step between mates. It is a sign of commitment, but most importantly, the ritual will make us linked in a way that.. For example, you’ll be able to feel how far away from you I am all the time. You’ll sense my moods, feelings, even physical pain. We will transfer our powers on each other and will be able to communicate telepathically. Considering the fact that we haven’t marked each other, it’s unusual you’ve heard me last night.”
“I think that’s not the only weird thing that happened last night.” she snuggled closer to me and continued: “I was half asleep when I felt unendurable pain. The first thought was that something has happened to you and then I’ve heard a howl.. You know the rest..”
Cill said:
“It must have something to do with the Prophecy. You are described as a wolf with unimaginable powers, and your bond even stronger than average. That must be a reason for you being attuned with Logan so soon.”
We were discussing the situation when there was a commotion at the entrance of the room.
