Chapter 9 - Meeting Kor

1141 Words
Grace POV I’ve reached for the knob for the 7th time. Obviously, I’ve let it go. Again. What has gotten into me? I’ve pressed my forehead against cool tiles hoping it would calm me down. At the same time I was afraid that all the things I’ve heard were true and that they were made up. If they were true, my whole life has been a made up story but it could have a happy end. If they were true, I’m stuck with lunatics. My parents were one of them. Shona as well. f**k, however this turns out the one thing is sure - the only friend I’ve ever got is not a friend at all. She is either a maniac or a liar. Lucky me.  The most horrid thing in the whole situation is a man waiting for me somewhere in the apartment. How am I supposed to talk to someone so out of my league?  “Oh, common, Grace. Grow some balls!” I told myself and abruptly opened the door.  Logan POV Finally I hear the door open. I got up, then sat again. Goddess, I don’t remember ever being so nervous. Am I twelve all over again? I was about to get up again when I saw her.  I was speechless. Wearing only my T-shirt, she was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Kor started to roar in my head, the need to mark her at this very moment was too strong. She was so tiny, that the shirt reached her knees. Even the collar was too large, it was falling under her shoulder but the skin was almost completely hidden with her braided hair.  She leaned her hand on the wall and nervously touched her mouth with another.  “I’ve made us some tea. Hope you like chamomile.” I said trying to avoid awkward silence.  She nodded and came to sit next to me. “I don’t know where to start. I have so many questions.” she muttered. For a minute or two she played with her tea bag, dropping it in the water then putting it back in.  All of the sudden, she looked at me and said: “I don’t want to be rude, I really don't, so please don’t mind things that will probably be said. I’ve never been good at filtering things that I am about to say, so like I’ve said; I apologize in advance for all the awkward things that I will say.” She smiled and continued: “I’m not even sure where to begin. Oh, God!” She bursted laughing. “Apparently, you are a werewolf.”  “So are you.” I said bluntly. “I am? And how can you be so sure? As a werewolf king, are you Mister know it all?” “Not really, there are some things I don’t know, even as a.. How did you say - werewolf king? But I can smell you. You smell like us.” “I smell like you?” she asked with a raised eyebrow. “And how would that be?” “You spent most of your life among humans. Have you noticed the difference between the way your parents smell and let’s say.. Your school colleagues?” After she nodded, I continued “I would appreciate it if you could answer me two questions. Firstly, describe the way your parents smell and then, please, explain to me, how you can smell better than other people?” “So, I can smell better than the average person and that makes me a werewolf? Am I supposed to snap my fingers, like Sho did, and I’ll turn into one?” “Look, I know this sounds ludacris. Trust me, if I was in your place, I wouldn’t believe the word that was said tonight. But I can show you, OK?” Grace POV “You’ll turn? Just like that?” Logan nodded and started to get up from the couch. “Where are you going?” I’ve asked. “I need space so I’ll just go there,” he said and pointed to the middle of the room. “And, I need to take my clothes for this. Is that ok with you?” I nodded and watched him as he started to take his clothes off. I’ve used all the self control that I’ve had in me to look at his face.  “Don’t ogle! Don’t ogle! Don’t ogle! Don’t ogle! Don’t ogle! Don’t ogle!” I’ve repeated to myself as some sort of mantra. “How the hell am I supposed to do that? The best looking man I’ve ever seen is taking his clothes off and I shouldn’t look.” I was interrupted in the middle of another of my internal monologue/dialogue; whatever it was.  “Please, don’t get scared. Kor won’t hurt you. OK?”  “Kor?” “My wolf. I just want you to meet him and I’ll be back, ok?” I didn’t even have time to say yes when Logan disappeared and on the same spot where he was, a tremendous black wolf appeared. His coat was black, only the tip of his ears and tail were fading in dark grey. He tilted his head and sat as if waiting for me to come closer. So I did.  I lifted my hand to touch him and he rubbed his muzzle against my palm. I scratched him behind an ear and he whimpered.  “You’re so beautiful” I’ve murmured softly. All this time he kept his gorgeous green eyes on me. They were even more intense than in his human form. He whimpered again and started to bump my shoulder with his snout. I realized he wanted me to turn around. A minute later I heard Logan putting his clothes back on. I turned around and suddenly started to cry.  “Oh my God, it’s true. It’s true!” Logan embraced me with such intensity, as if we’ve done it a million times before. I’ve clasped my arms around him while warm tears flowed down my cheeks.  “Just hold me, please, just hold me. Don’t let me go.” I’ve felt his lips on my forehead and almost soundless promise: “Never!”
