Grace POV
I must have gone completely crazy. There is no other explanation for tonight. Not just the things that happened tonight but the fact that here I am, driving in a car with a guy I’ve just met. I have no idea where he’s taking me; he said home and obviously that was enough for me. He’s been driving through thick woods for the past 15, maybe 20 minutes and I’ve been staring outside of the window most of the time.
Like I’ve said, I must have gone crazy and to be honest it has crossed my mind that it might happen one day. Most of my life, I had no friends, just my parents and books. I have a feeling that I was daydreaming most of the time - about friends, boyfriend, “normal” life. Apparently, being a dreamer and lonely can get you mad.
After Logan (Hot guy had a name, and it suits him, I have to admit) ended the conversation with my father he must have been aware that I’m still not in the mood to trust him. He took a deep breath and asked Shona, Archer and John to give us some privacy.
“ I know you must feel confused right now. Hell, I’m confused and I know what’s going on. “But,” he stepped closer, took my hand and put it behind his neck. He swallowed hard and continued: “Can you feel this? When you touch me, can you feel it?”
I nodded. Those damn sparks were igniting my body all over again. To be honest, I can feel them all the time, ever since I’ve laid my eyes on him for the first time an hour ago. But when I touch him, they ignite. Literally, every cell in my body goes on fire. “You feel this too?” I asked.
“Yes” he said with that crooked smile of his. “We are mates, and the feeling is the creation of our mate bond. That’s the strongest connection two of our kind could ever have. You’ll hear the whole story, when we meet your parents, but firstly you need to know that as your mate, I live to make you happy. I would do anything in my power to protect you, I would start a war, I would die.. You name it, I would do it. There’s no place safer in the world for you, than by my side. So, I need you to trust me and come home with me, ok?”
I was looking in his eyes the whole time and when he was done, I just said “Yes”.
Those weren’t empty words, I did trust him.
So, here we are, driving “home” in his posh car, while three remaining members of our group followed in Grand Cherokee right behind us. Another 10, maybe 15 minutes and we've reached massive iron doors. Two guards approached us, and when they confirmed it was Logan, they said: “Alpha:”, nodded and opened the gates.
“Why’s everyone calling you Alpha? Are you a cult leader?” I’ve asked. “Please God, don’t let him be” I thought to myself.
All of the sudden, he stepped on a break and burst laughing. He was literally shaking from laughter. “A-a what? Cult leader?” The laughing started all over again and this time it took him a few minutes to calm down. With a smile spread across his face he said gently: “no, baby, I’m not a lunatic. At least not that kind.”
We’ve continued to drive and soon we’ve entered a village. Beautiful, small houses were everywhere. Street lamps illuminated streets and we’ve passed a few pedestrians. As much as I could see, each house had a beautiful garden and they’ve all been taken care of.
We’ve parked in front of the massive house and stepped out of the car. I was stunned. Three story high, built in colonial style, the house was beautiful. And, did I mention - it was huge. “What is this?” I asked dumbfounded. “Our home?” he said. “Ours? Who lives here with you?” Oh my God, he’s got a wife. This must be a cult after all. Maybe he has a harem or something and expects me to join. I don’t think so.
As if he could read my mind and said: “When I say our home, I mean yours and mine. I might be too confident but I hope you’re here to stay.” He took my hand, kissed my temple and lead me to our home.
