Jasmine’s POV
The cold, evil words from the phone broke me.
"NO! NO, PLEASE!" I screamed from the top of my lungs, my hands were shaking so much that I could barely hold the phone against my ear.
"TAKE ME INSTEAD! KILL ME! NOT MY BABY! PLEASE!"
Before I could even finish my desperate begging, a horrifying, high-pitched scream sliced straight through the speaker.
"MOMMY! MOMMY"
An unforgettable sound echoed through the line, followed by my little boy's painful, gasping sob.
"ORSON!" I screamed desperately. "LEAVE HIM ALONE. DON'T TOUCH MY BABY"
The line went completely dead in seconds.
The phone slipped from my fingers and the entire world stopped moving around me. My heart stopped beating, the air left my lungs, and a suffocating, pitch-black darkness swallowed my mind.
