CHAPTER SEVEN

*Belle’s POV*

I was surrounded by a darkness that was pressing in on me when suddenly I started smelling the foul stench of smoke and blood. The darkness started to give way a little as I saw a hint of light from a burning fire. I followed the light and reached a house that I somehow knew used to be a beautiful mansion.

 In front of it many wolves were fighting, some were dead, then the sudden cry of a baby to my right drew my attention. Two wolves were fighting off an enemy that wanted to hurt the baby while another wolf in human form held on to the child. I wanted to go help fight off the enemy but realized I was glued to where I stood, helpless having no choice but to just watch as the enemy tore through the two other wolves and then moved on to kill the wolf that was holding the baby now in it his wolf form.

The enemy wolf got closer to the child and just as it was about to pick the baby up with its mouth a bright white light formed a shield around her(the baby) stopping the bad wolf from touching her. The bad wolf was pacing, growling and scratching, trying to get through the shield but to no avail and then suddenly it spotted me and started chasing me. I wanted to shift to my wolf but couldn’t feel her presence so I ran as fast as I could but wasn’t fast enough as the wolf caught me and growled “I got you now Belle”.

I wake up screaming, I had been dreaming, it was all a dream but it was the same dream that had plagued me since I was five and had only stopped few weeks after my sixteenth birthday.

Daisy what was that? what does it mean and why has it come back? I ask my wolf feeling very uneasy, I’m as clueless as you are she replies equally freaked out by the dream. 

Sighing I turned to check the time and I realized it was 5:30am already, kitchen staff resumed to the kitchen by 6am which meant if I didn’t hurry I was going to be late.

I jumped out of my bed and rushed to the bathroom, had a quick shower, brushed my hair so it was flowing down my back, I went back into the room changed into my uniform and headed to the kitchen to begin my day. I had to go to school and since I met Lilly and we became friends she always covered for me till I got back.

Stepping into the kitchen I was greeted by Miss Molly, the lady who had hired me. It was strange to find her in the kitchen because she only ever was seen when a new worker was hired, a worker needed strict cautioning or was about to be fired. Oh great his majesty wants to fire us Daisy says as I felt her rolling her eyes.

“Ah Belle there you are, I came to see you” she says. “yes Miss Molly, good morning” I greeted in a calm voice not wanting to show my anxiety cause even though I would like a little break from my mates continuous torture I had nowhere else to go. “I hope I’m not in trouble?” I ask before I could stop myself.

“No, not really, even though I heard of how you ran out yesterday while the royals were still having dinner” she says casually. “Oh I’m sorry about that, I was…” I say trying to give an explanation as she interrupts me

“Never mind about that. The alpha just wanted me to tell you you’d be his personal maid from now on” she says “does that mean I’m not in trouble?” I ask trying to understand his plan is this time. “Yes” she replies giving me a look that said I was silly to ask that, “and you start now. His office is on the 3rd floor, down the hall and the second door by your left” she says staring at her wrist watch.

I looked at her expecting more instructions when “well what are you waiting for?” she asks in a confused voice. I turned leaving the kitchen, heading to my new post wondering how I’d be able to sneak off to school now. I still had some months before graduation I sighed feeling tired of all the emotional and mental stress I have been through since meeting my mate.

Well leave it to his royal jerkiness to ruin a perfectly good plan and mental health. Daisy says causing me to let out a laugh that in turn earned me stares from the servants close by. 

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I knocked on the door of the room I was told was my mate’s office. Thinking he probably wasn’t here yet since I didn’t get a reply. I walked into the office and found a man sitting on the side of the desk meant for visitors, fumbling over some documents.

He looked engrossed, lost in the work he was doing, back turned to me so he didn’t noticed my presence. “Good morning” I say startling him. He turned shock plastered to his face as he got up and came towards me extending his hands “good morning, I’m Tyler, the beta” he says with a smile. To say he’s not handsome would be a lie, he looked like a male model. He is tall with hard features, dark blue eyes, chiseled face, black hair and a smile that swept most girls off their feet.

“I’m Belle and I’m the alpha’s new personal maid” I say shaking his hand. “I’m so pleased to be meeting our future Luna” he says again with a warm smile as my eye grew bigger in its sockets.

Our mate likes us after all, he told someone about us. Daisy says jumping in excitement at the back of my head. “He told you?” I spat out before I could stop myself. “No, he didn’t” he says sadly as disappointment washed over me and my wolf. “How did you know?” I ask trying to keep the disappointment from my voice. “I know Cain, only a mate can make him act the way he’s been acting lately and you have been the one girl that seemed to evoke that reaction from him” he replies.

Nodding “beta Tyler is he always so rude and mean to everyone or is it just me?” I ask again “he doesn’t believe he should have any form of bond or relationship with those beneath him which pretty much makes him a loner” beta Tyler replies. Smiling I look Tyler in the face and was about to ask him to join me in my plan which I hadn’t come up with yet to break Cain when the door bursts open and the big bad amazingly arrogant, incorrigibly jerky alpha walks in.

“Good morning alpha Cain” I say and hear the beta greet him too and without responding to our greetings he walks to his desk “there would be a meeting in here soon, I want you to make sure everyone is served with whatever they want” he says looking at me as I nod in response. “In the meantime get this place cleaned up. Tyler let’s go for a run” he says and headed out as I got to work.

I knew I won’t be able to go to school today and I had to come up with a plan fast if I didn’t want to miss the remaining months I had left.

Just as I was getting done with cleaning and preparing the office for the meeting the door swung open and a tall man with blonde hair and green eyes walked in.

“Hi” he says “hi” I reply giving him a weak smile as my wolf suddenly became agitated sensing he was trouble. I had seen him before, he was just recently hired as the new gardener, so what was he doing in here, something wasn’t right.

He sent me a smile but I couldn’t help feeling grossed out by it. “I was sent here by the beta to tell you the meeting would be starting soon and ask if you are done with your work”. He says as I wondered why the beta would send him there were other servant that he could have sent. “Yes” I said managing a weak smile. He nodded in response and turned to leave then turned back to face me “my name is Gaius by the way” he says and left as I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I was going to talk to my wolf about this later now I had a job to do.

The meeting had started for hours now, who knew these meetings took so long, and I had been serving snacks, tea and other beverages to the people in the room which included my mate, his beta, some of the pack warriors, the alpha of some pack in the kingdom and his blonde bimbo of a daughter whose name is Alex.

I had watched Alex flirt with my mate as images of last night’s event with my mate flooded my memory. I don’t know exactly what happened but I was sure I was the one who was hurting him. it seemed in my anger I was  filled with unknown powers and I could hurt him even without touching him and while it hurt me to know that I hurt my mate I was still very angry with him and now watching this blonde flirt with him again was not helping my anger at all.

“I think we should wait until we captured a rouge and find out what their plan is exactly” Alex was saying as she walked over to him, bent over his shoulder “I think we should focus on this areas…” she continued pointing to the map in front of him with her breasts on his shoulder. I had had enough I can’t take this anymore I was about to tell her to get her filthy body parts off my mate when it happened.

 My whole body was burning, pain was surging through my body and I had the urge to scream.

Oh no oh no this is not happening now, not here.  I screamed and crumbled to the floor in pain.

I’m in heat.
