CHAPTER NINE

*Belle’s POV*

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah”

I screamed as I woke up shivering from the same dream that has been plaguing me for days now. My mind filled with fear and panic while my body ached with pain from my heat. I looked around and noticed I wasn’t in my room and a new wave of panic washed over me but when Cain appeared by my side with a glass of water I remembered where I was and why.

Cain was in panic mode “what happened, did you have a nightmare?’ he asks worry edged on his face. I had never told anyone about my dreams and I was aching to share it with someone but I didn’t trust him yet. “It’s nothing” I say trying to get up which he automatically helps me with and shocks flowed through my body.

It wasn’t the first time I felt tingles when he touched me but it’s the first time I actually acknowledge them. They felt so good, comforting and I wanted nothing more than to melt into his touch and let him have his way with me but I’m almost certain that’s just my heat talking or is it?

“Thanks I’m fine, I can take it from here” I says as soon as my feet are steady on the floor.

I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take my bathe. I was still in heat but decided I wasn’t going to be at his mercy. I stepped into the tub that was now filled with water then I remembered that I didn’t have my towel and change of clothes.

“I’ll ask your friend to get you towel and fresh clothes” Cain says from the room as if on cue. “Thanks” I yell back.

My mate seemed to care, the cause for this sudden change is a mystery to me. I could see he was willing to put in the effort but I wasn’t going to let my guard down that easily for all I know this could be a trick.

Fully dressed in the navy blue jeans and a loose orange arm-less top that Lilly brought me I went back to the room expecting to find my mate waiting but he wasn’t and neither was Lilly.

Staring at the room for the first time since I was brought here I noticed it was very spacious. There were huge glass doors that leads to the balcony and also served as windows. Its walls had champagne colored wallpapers, beautiful white sofa sat in the corner complementing the design of the room. It had two door on both sides of the king size bed, one was for the bathroom I had just left, the other led to the closet and from the size of the room I presumed it was going to be the biggest closet I had ever seen. It was truly a very beautiful and stylish room fit for a royal.

I was just about to go take a sneak peak of the closet when I heard the door open. I turned around and saw my mate standing at the doorway with a tray in his hands.

“You must be hungry” he says setting the tray down on the center table that was in the middle of the room. “I brought you breakfast, you need to eat so you can take your pills” he says urging me to come eat as he sat down on a sofa close to the table.

Feeling hungry I went to him without argument and started eating my breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast in silence not wanting to have a conversation because I was scared I’d explode with emotions.

“I’m sorry” I heard him say from besides me but I ignore him and keep eating. “Belle, I’m sorry. I know I hurt you but I want a chance to make it all up to you” he says again.

I stand up feeling uncomfortable sitting beside him. I had been able to keep all the hurt locked up inside me. I locked them away not feeling anything but one word from him and I feel it all rushing to the surface like a dam that has just exploded. I felt like he was responsible for all my pain, like he could have helped me but didn’t. I knew he had no power over me been abandoned by my parents or what happened at the orphanage but he had control over the pain he’s caused me since I got here. All I knew was that like everyone else my mate didn’t want me and somehow I wanted him to feel just how hurt I was by everything.

“Please don’t cry Belle” he says pulling me out of my thought and I realized I was crying. I can’t even remember the last time I had let anyone see me cry.

“Y-you don’t want me” was all I could bring my shaky voice to say. “I’m sorry I made you feel that way but I do want you. You are the most beautiful courageous woman I had ever seen” he says and his word sent anger through my body along with the fresh wave of pain from my heat but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.

“What changed?  From what I remember I’m still a maid” I ask as my voice became shakier. I see him shift from one foot to the other and pain written all over his face. Good I thought at least now he knows what hurt feels like.

“I realized I was being a jerk, foolish, stupid too and I was pushing away what is the best thing that has ever happened and is still happening to me” he says and I swear never have I heard words so sincere but my stubborn heart fears he might be lying.

He is not, he’s changed. How do you know that?

Damien told me. You’ve been talking to his wolf behind me?

No I connected with him just now and he’s aching for his mate, he also says Cain is changing for us. You know I won’t betray you. Please forgive him I have stayed away from my mate for too long and I need him as you can see and feel. Daisy says in my head referring to my heat.

“Belle say something” Cain says bringing me back to our conversation instead of the one I was having with my wolf.

I’m doing this for you. I quickly say to my wolf. Yea right for me only she says back rolling her eyes as I turn to look Cain in the eyes.

“I’m an orphan and a maid not an alpha’s daughter and I’m not willing to become what I’m not” I say looking at him and clutching to my stomach as a fresh wave of pain hit me. He rush to my side and helps me sit on a nearby chair then goes to grab the pills and a glass of water. He walks back to me to give them to me but I shake my head and press my lips tightly together to keep myself from screaming. Knowing what I mean he says “Belle, you don’t have to be who you’re not, ignore my foolish request, I just want you, my mate. Now please take your pills”. 

I take the pill and water from him and use it. I waited for what seemed like forever for the pain to pass even a little so I can reply him. “Then I guess I’d give you a chance” I say with a faint smile and he immediately gives me a bear hug that sends tingles all over my body and for the first time I let myself enjoy his touch as I relax into the hug smiling.

Breaking the hug Cain` stared into my eyes as if searching for something, making feel very uncomfortable as my lust for him intensify. “What?” I ask not wanting him to notice my cheeks that were already heating up but from the smirk on his face I knew I was too late.

“Let’s make it official. Let’s tell the pack and the kingdom that they have a new royal Luna”. He says and I could hear the excitement in his voice and for the first time I felt loved.
